Exactly what I've been saying and I echo those sentiments from 15:30. There's a thin veneer of Mercedes on new Mercedes at astronomical prices. It'll hurt the brand more in the long run. While they may make better profits now because of cost cutting, it's very evident in the poor quality of the products they're putting out. I used to be so in love with this brand. And I have such great memories of all the Mercs my friend's parents had from the early 2000s all the way through to the early 2010s. From the W211 E55 and W220 and 221 S500 to the W212 E63 and V6 normal C classes from those times. I remember what those felt like and drove like. They felt so special and so solid and something engineered by the best engineers in the industry. The price could be justified. Now it can't. The new Mercs don't feel like they are engineered machines but rather just feel like an ordinary product produced by an ordinary company prioritizing cost cutting over everything else.

All those years of experience as a car journo certainly made this a great and informative video to watch. Thank you Ciro Making a solid, good, luxury car these days is surely no longer cost effective. I can't imagine that it is. Fluctuating currencies and skyrocketing prices in steel and other solid commodities are a major problem in this space and will only get worse. There is not enough supply and a massive demand for such commodities and using them on cars is becoming increasingly unsustainable.

Im so happy someone else is finally calling out Mercedes (and other brands) on their declining interior build quality. Recent Merc products have terribly put together interiors, creaky, squeeky, and rattly. This car is stunning, given, but seems like shocking value for money.

Me too! Because for far too long in the recent years Mercedes has been getting away with shoddy quality at inflated prices. It's to the point where, as a Mercedes owner for the last 10 years, currently driving a 2014 E350, I will not buy a new one. I test drove several. The new C. The new E. The new GLE and GLC. All absolutely shockingly bad build quality. My dad has a 2005 C220 cdi with 340,000kms on and the interior looks and feels new with barely a rattle and absolutely no squeaks. When my E went in for a repair at Mercedes, they loaned me a GLB. The first thing my dad said when getting in it was how plasticky and cheap it felt. He was even more shocked when I told him the price of it. My friends purchased a Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max and honestly the Chery is a better car than the GLB at half the price. It has better interior build and material quality and feels like a more solid vehicle. I'm very disappointed in this brand and they've lost my loyalty and respect.

Own a 2022 220 GLB, and I agree! the interior is not up to the "old Merc standard". My previous 220 GLC was way better. I would rather take the Porsche in your comparison Ciro. Great job Ciro, love your reviews.

With Lexus updating their LC500, SL43 doesn't seem worth it. Especially since the Lexus will come everything standard for the same price of R2.5 million. SL did really become rather a disappointing revival.

Those Golden brake calipers last I checked represent Carbon Ceramics, which are noisy if you don't get them up to temperature. To shut them up you gotta go for a hard run and do an emergency stop.

Sorry but I can't justify that price for a 4 cylinder Mercedes AMG SL. There's far better value elsewhere in the market from other manufacturers. The BMW M8 Competition Convertible or the Porsche 911 GTS is a superb open top Sports Car. The New SL is just too expensive .

This car is quite frankly, utter crap considering the price. A VW R has the exact same engine size, will beat it in a drag, and costs less than half the price. And the SL's interior looks identical to the C-class which is again half the price. And as Ciro said, it's way too firm and uncomfortable to be a dailyable cruiser, which was always the point of the SL. How is the new SL any different to the AMG GT? It's got the discomfort of a track-focused sportscar without any of the performance to make up for it. It's clear Mercedes' cost-cutting has gone way too far. There's barely any difference between the interior of an A-class and an S-class, the GT and SL are pretty much the same car, and they can't afford to manufacture real buttons and physical controls. Step inside any new Merc model and it feels so much cheaper than the previous gen model. Really disappointed with Mercedes nowadays.

Let me start off by saying that I'm a die hard Mercedes fan. Always have been. I currently own a 2011 W164 ML350, unicorn of a car with only 75k km on the clock. Apart from it being in showroom condition still, and even though it was built by a bunch of Hillbillies in the USA, it still has something of that bank vault build quality of old. Everything on it just feels invincible. Like it would last forever. The bodywork, the metal itself, just feels like it must be twice as thick as most other cars. It does not dent easily. Same with the paint. I have one stone chip on it. You very accurately described newer Mercedes as cheap with a thin veneer of Mercedes over it. Nail on the head. Very sad. I honestly don't know what I will replace my ML with, as the newer Mercedes just isn't "The Best or Nothing".

Of course it affects us multifold. This car sells for 120k pounds in UK. That equates to about 3 years of an average salary. In SA, it's about 9 years.

They believe that the 2.0L is the future and the replacement for the v8. I just checked the news they are definitely not bringing the v8 to the E and C class

It might be an SL but I'm not crazy to over pay for a Benz I'm confused about the price of Mercedes Benz in any class wether it's from the A-class up to the new S-class all of the Benz's prices are ridiculously over priced in comparison to it's rivals just take the price comparison between the 7series and the S-class there is a big difference between day and night but I must say there's an even bigger difference between those cars's price I seriously don't think that any Mercedes Benz is that much over any over their rivals there's NOTHING SPECIAL ABOUT ANY MERCEDES.🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
