For this comparison test, we invited popular three-row crossover SUVs from mainstream brands. The refreshed 2025 Ford Explorer and redesigned 2024 Chevrolet Traverse were not available to consider at the time of our testing.

I own a BMW X7 and a Palisade Calligraphy and I have to tell you that Palisade is impressive for the half the price of my x7. 3rd row seat is more roomier than x7. We are very happy with the Palisade. No issues whatsoever.

If you had tested the Palisade Calligraphy sans the black edition., the pricing would have been about the same as the rest of the cars. Also, If you had tested the Pilot Elite, the pricing would have been higher. Palisade wins every time. That is why we own one.

I've had a Subaru Ascent for 6 years - leased two of them - and I strongly disagree with the reviewers take. It's not too small at all - it's a great size. I have a family of 5 and most people with a three row SUV are putting kids in the third row - it doesn't have to comfortably seat adults, especially not 6 foot tall men. And the first and second rows are plenty comfortable for adults. No way this should rank behind the Pathfinder and Pilot!

About the lack of shift lever in some of the suvs and push buttons. My advice is Enjoy It! You get a storage space under the booth and you only press it once or twice during each ride, so should not be a problem.

Why do screens need to be so huge in order to be considered relevant? I was born in '75, and we all got by just fine with zero screens for decades, but now a 14" screen is too small. The VW atlas has always been a solid choice it was its interior in the past that held it back some but they’ve fixed that aside from the tech it’s a bit complicated but works fine once you understand it so as long as you keep proper maintenance and use oem replacement parts only you should be ok after the warranty don’t believe the hype online 💯

I agree with the assessment of the touchscreen everything, I"m still figuring it out. I use the volume button on the steering wheel for the radio and use the shortcut buttons on the dash to get to the climate screen. This Atlas is a lot of fun to drive and doesn't feel like a big 3 row SUV. No regrets on my purchase.

The Telluride is the best one hands down. I like the interior and exterior design much better plus the ride in the Telluride is superior to the Palisade according to reviewers (quieter interior). The GH looks very cheap and bland interior wise and the only power train which I’m more interested in is the Hybrid Max and that is more than $60k which puts it at close to $10k grand more than the Telluride. One thing I really like about the GH that I would like the Telluride to implement on their redesign is a panoroof.

I really like that Honda gives you the ability to get three passengers in the second row in top trims. Captains chairs are a giant no-go for my family of five for the times when we need to maximize cargo while everyone coming along. That removable middle seat set up is so much more useful. That more than makes up for things like a smaller screen.
@marvinaviles2593

This is exactly how I feel. Yes my 3 kids don’t always want to seat together, but when we need to maximize cargo space I don’t want to have to choose between cargo and a kid 😄. Say a a large Costco run, a trip to the airport, or trip to Homegooods, you want to still be able to carry all your kids and cargo. Wish more manufacturers made second row bench available in higher trims besides Pilot and Atlas.

Absolute nonsense, MISLEADING VW is the LEAST reliable, with the WORST owners ratings! Also it only gets a "MARGINAL" rating in IIHS front crash backseat safety test. The 2.0 engine is undersized (wear&tear), it is the 2nd most expensive vehicle in this test, high deepreciation, worst user interface, loudest, etc... Also there are dozens of other reviews of Atlas and I never saw anyone else praise its handling the way you did... You gave it 18 points less for the huge difference in fuel economy and then give it the same 18 points more for child-safety seats, makes no sense...

We wanted a Palisade Calligraphy in 2021, but the prices were ridiculously inflated back then. So we sprung for an Audi Q7. Now we are considering a step back for our next vehicle. The Atlas MMI looks like absolute trash compared to our current setup. There’s really nothing out there that really strikes us in the 47 to 55 K price range. We might even just downsize to a Q3 just to keep the same level of quality that we’re used to.

I would disagree with this ranking, Atlas should be the #1 winner, the fact that you guys gave it a second place below the Plisade because of the cabin noise actually surprises me, I test-drove both, the Atlas is far more premium, far more comfortable, and fun/easy to drive, with it's more powerful engine and low speed torque delivery it's very nimble, and guess what, Palisade was far more noisy on both wind noise and road noise, so either you are biased, or you got a faulty Atlas. Thank you for a comprehensive review of these 3-row SUVs. I am surprised you rated the handling on the Pilot so low? I find the SH-AWD system on the Pilot the most engaging of these SUVS. The steering can be a bit numb, but that is mostly corrected in sport mode. Though I rarely find the need for sport mode. In my experience when you accelerate out of a corner in the other vehicles, you really feel their size and weight. Doing the same in the Pilot allows the torque vectoring AWS to really help manage the heft. I find it also makes a big difference on slick surfaces. The AWD performance on snow, especially when cornering, is a step above the other systems, in my opinion. Many other vehicle journalists have reported similar results. We just got back from a road trip from Denver to Duluth and back. We were very impressed overall with our 24 Pilot Elite. Our best highway mpg was 33, and our worst was 21.5. The best was with a tail wind most of the way on a two lane highway with the cruse set at 69. The worse was with a strong headwind, (Hello Wyoming) with the cruise set at 77. This was with four adults and all our luggage. We didn't expect to get that good of MPG. Especially considering its boxy shape. Maybe it was because I washed and waxed it right before we left. 😉 We now have about 7k trouble free miles. We hope she stays that way.

The Toyota Grand Highlander is available as a hybrid. Saving gas in this day and age should be of major value. I didn't hear if the Palisade has an available hybrid engine. I will search to see.

When u guys do these comparisons, u guys should take into account the reliability of these vehicles. That's something that gets overlooked in a lot of these comparisons. VW would've been in last place if that was the case lol. Or the Korean cars 😂

Korean ones are twice as reliable as the competition. They come with legendary 10-year 100,000-mile warranty. Twice the competition's.
@ElijahsAba
@ElijahsAba 6 ай бұрын
@@JohnLee-tb3nhWarranty length does not equal reliability. Reliability = how seldom / frequently things go wrong i.e. can one rely on the car to do what it’s supposed to whenever you need it to? Warranty length = until when the dealer will repair the stuff that goes wrong, for free. If Toyota dropped their warranty down to 6 months, the car would still be the most reliable one to own. Conversely, just because a Hyundai has 10-year warranty it says nothing about how often things go wrong with it and needs to visit the dealer over those 10 years. There have been horrific stories about Genesis (luxury Hyundai) owners not being able to get warranty repair appointments from the dealer.

Thank you for the review. I disagree with Atlas and Hyundai being on the top, but I also understand that this is just perspective from the three of you as you saw fit. We understand that no review would have 100% compliance with the viewers, so that's not an issue for me. We agree to disagree. But one thing we all can agree on is the multitude of choices available in this specific segment of vehicles.

There's been a lot of buzz around the Mazda CX-90, so I decided to check it out myself. However, I was surprised to find that the interior feels disappointingly cramped. The dashboard design seems overly compact, and the third-row seating is almost impractical-definitely not what I expected from an SUV in this class.

What is this obsession with “small screens?” How big do people want these screens to be, especially when you’re supposed to be looking at the road? Also, most people are probably just gonna pick up kids and go to Target in these vehicles anyway. How often are they actually gonna be looking at the screen, especially if there’s a head up display? 🤨

Few things, The Atlas is my favorite. Did the Americans not receive an invitation? Durango? Traverse? Explore? THE BRAND NEW GMC Acadia Denali!!! The Palisade, in its highest trim is truly a Premium Luxury vehicle. What a value. Job well done Hyundai! The Grand Highlander in its highest trim is nicer than its Lexus cousin, and it looks significantly better! The Accent is truly a testament of how loyal Subaru customers are because that styling is all over the place then stretched to the ground, overall it’s a huge no for me. But hey they sale right. Thanks you all for real feedback. This was an awesome review.

Where is the 2024 Acura MDX? My wife and I use it to take our kids to school and other events. After dropping them off, we enjoy driving on the twisty mountain roads here in Southern California. Our 3 row SUV, the MDX A Spec with SH-AWD and a front double wishbone suspension, is perfect for this. It handles like a sport sedan, offering both fun and safety. The handling is comparable to German cars, and it has a reliable V6 engine. The only downside is its fuel efficiency. I know it's a family hauler but it does not have to drive like a yacht. The new Mazda CX 90 is missing as well.

The seats are not comfortable in the ascent and I agree with you, there's not a lot of places to put things and when you do have two drinks in the cup holders you don't have any room left to put anything anywhere else. I was real disappointed in this, but Subarus just not known to compete with the majority. They have a very limited market and their cars are cheap and they sell a lot of them like in Colorado but they are just simple and functional. There is nothing special about them

I'm surprised the ascent is even in this. It is so small on the inside it is not finished off very well and doesn't have much styling. But that's what Subaru is known for is very functional but not a lot of tech and they don't dare try to add hardly any styling cues. I drove an ascent and was really unimpressed with the comfort and the looks. And the way it drove. The cabin isn't very big either

Great review. I have a Hyundai Palisade calligraphy night edition, it's nice. I believe the Atlas is solid #2 considering how the review went. I used to be high up on the Telluride but after I compared the two last year it was clear to me which one came out on top and to my surprise, it was the Hyundai. I would have loved an option of leather but the suede material I prefer now to my surprise lol. The button for the gears you get use to easily but I prefer a traditional shifter. I agree that the engine power on it is lacking to me but it's a comfortable ride, I wish it had more low end torque as review mentioned. Although it’s not like a speedster will be buying this vehicle lol it’s a family hauler. After, seeing this video I will go test drive an atlas due to me being in the market for one more car.
