Very informative and easy to follow. I am now starting to believe that I can give my 2008 another lease of life where local mechanics were reluctant to go, hopefully without the cost far exceeding its write off value. I will definitely not have my car written off when I can now accept that a good mechanic can probably resolve my minor roof/ boot issues. Thank you for restoring my faith in my pride and joy. 25:01

I can confirm the problem. The trunk lock is engineered bad ... because water will store in the plug and the pins & plug will rust extremly. The lower pin will loosen/break and this causes malefunction to the roof opening process. Replace the old trunk lock and the problem is solved 👍 Did it today ... it works fine now 🥰 You probably need VCDS adapter/software to get the roof in a logical correct place to open/close it first. Then erase 02805 and everything is fine!

Bien hecho !! Ive fixed roof issues on 3 merc slk,s and they are difficult enough. This VW looks even more tricky. There is a EOS at a local garage up for sale at reduced price due to unknown roof problem !! Might take on the task ???

At 13:17 that side flap is out. This is what mine is doing and I can't get it to shut. Then at 13:22 you somehow have gotten it closed. What did you do?

The hydraulics is sounding unnaturally loud and whiney. This usually means that there is air in the hydraulic system which will give weak spongy action. Air will get into a system through eroded seals or hoses on the suction side of the pump. Replace the inlet seals, and inspect/replace the connectors, hoses as needed.

With this car the sun roof rails need to be greased with lithium grease every now and then because any resistance will cause the very sensitive sensors to register a fault and stop operation. If not that then one of the sun roof motors can be faulty and the same thing happens (they are prone to water ingress damage). If not then the roof module has had water in it and is damaged. Lots of things make the operation stall. Also cables can stick or get trapped if they come off where they're supposed to be, also causing shutdowns. You need to refit the roof lining because of the strings before operating the roof. They are part of the operation too.

the corrosion to the lock is from the boot light, occasionally boot light cracks and start licking to inside. sos... after the lock mechanism, water destroys the roof pump.

Hi do you know how to fix the roof on my eos that won't work because of the motor in the trunk that I thought wasn't working, but when we checked it it shows signs of life but doesn't want to close the trunk all the way and the car doesn't know that the trunk is closed or open the fuses are fine everything is roughly inspected basic do you know what it could be. In the trunk, the lights also do not recognize whether the trunk is open or not, and now I use the trunk as in the most common golf 5, because the soft closing will not work, and therefore the roof does not know whether the trunk is open or closed

the black cable end has poped out off its holder pull the cable and put it back in as a fast fix to keep it in place use a cable tie and it will work. the cable probably has some friction in side it use a few drops of oil to loosen it up. for the flaps it can be that they hang under the cloth they are atached to a piece of black wire this can be to long because off streching overtime. the latch in the booth is not working and does not sense the lid is up. replace the sensor.

Hello, do you have any idea how to change the strings to the sunroof? the electro-motor itself is still working, I already ordered the metal strings/cable to open/close the sunroof, but can't find any instruction online how to replace the cable without damaging the hardtop. I don't know how and where to start. Without repairing/replacing the cable to the sunroof, the hardtop does not open! Would be greatful for any help

I had similar problem with it .... procedure started by vcds then roof was started opening and I could not stop it so at the first rear both windows gone then trunk lid closed to the middle section of the roof ..... really mess... when procedure was started I could not stop it even after take a key out from ignition switch there was a roof ECU problem so really need to pay attention what can happen !!!!!

So I changed the boot lock and from the roof not doing anything it now opens halfway and then stops l. The drivers side side flap doesn't lift up but the other passenger side does. Anyone have any ideas on why this is happening?
