I've been wondering what this noise is for about 2 years. And finally I got under the car and shook the axle shafts and sure enough, they make the noise I've been hearing.

I've got a BAD 70MPH vibration that shakes the entire car. when I take my foot off the accelerator it stops so this has got to be the culprit. 132,000 Miles

Was the axle the problem?

do you think this would eventually cause the wheel to fall off while driving?
@drewski14415 жыл бұрын
LOL no.. The wheel is still connected by the control arm upper and lower
@Boviceeee5 жыл бұрын
drewski strange. I had a similar issue where I would get a knocking vibrating sound/feeling and eventually the wheel fell off while I was driving. I put it back on and it spun straight off of the lugnuts after a couple of minutes...what do you think?
@drewski14415 жыл бұрын
You might have a issue with your lug nuts not torqued on properly. That's not a CV axle issue

My axle does the same when I move it in and out, it does the same clunking sound. However, I never hear anything when accelerating or decelerating, but I hear a clunking noise when going over bumps at low speeds. Could this be the cause?
@CarsForNoobs4 жыл бұрын
Maybe, but might also be suspension bushings
@ELY-qg2vn3 жыл бұрын
Did you ever find out your issue? I have the same problem and it wasnt my control arm bushings
@nedeljkodukic72793 жыл бұрын
@@ELY-qg2vn it was simply a 15$ link kit on the passenger front side

hello did you have a weird steering feeling with that play in the cv axel. i drive a civic ej9 and my right side have this much play. when I put my feet of the gas the car shutter. Dennis
@CarsForNoobs7 жыл бұрын
it shuttered when i lifted off the accelerator, i never noticed it when accelerating, but definitely seems like it could happen that way, and if it has that much play probably worth it to replace and hopefully that solves your problem.

I've had a clunking noise in my front end for about three years now. I have a 99 civic I have changed in there and outer tie rod's ball joints wheelbearings etc. my both CV axles do the same exact thing , they make a knocking noise when pulled in and out
@CarsForNoobs7 жыл бұрын
I would definitely try replacing the axles
@velizarmilutinovic29476 жыл бұрын
CarsForNoobs And how about inner shaft bearings... Good luck with that.

also check control arm bushings
@drewski14415 жыл бұрын
That might be your shocks are struts they might be shot. Click sound is a bad CV joint plus you get some vibration with it. Clunk or thump sound seem like suspensions. If you do not feel any vibrations it is probably the suspension system.
