Carsington Water Caravan & Motorhome Club Site, Derbyshire

This CAMC site is situated in a pine plantation close to the reservoir. There is a visitor centre, water sports activities and wildlife centre. There are attractions a short drive away for example Matlock Bath, Middleton Top engine house and Ashbourne town. Plus walking and cycling tracks.

At this time of year we got off light with just pine needles and cones on the gusty day. Matlock Bath is certainly a magnet for bikers. We’ve visited many times but never done the cable cars. Hello there Dave & Helen, We guess you’ve been sunbathing in your own private garden courtesy of pitch 26 🌞, the best isn’t it. No signage required at Eye Kettleby with all those privacy hedges 👍. Don’t forget to visit Ye olde pork pie shop in Melton Mowbray whilst you’re there. Carsington club site is a good one, as is Waleswood caravan park, South Yorkshire which is only 12 miles from Chesterfield. All the best to you both, Rob & Gail 😀

Hi Rob and Gail we love your videos I have to say we had a bad experience with one of the wardens at carsington water a few years ago My wife complained to the area manager of the site at the nec and told him of our experience At the moment we are at Cartref caravan park in Shrewsbury on a fully serviced pitch a lovely site

Hi Rob and Gail. We have stayed on both the CL and non CL pitches. We would recommend the CL pitches if one is available as these have stunning views.That said all the pitches are good and some have views of jodrell bank radio telescope that is only a few miles away. Hi there Paul and Joanne, We love a woodland setting and you’re right it is like Kendal. We never felt the 49mph gusts in the caravan at all so the tall trees did a good job of sheltering us. But the wind gifted us a few pine cones 😂. Just counted my maps especially for you and I have 90 😁 It was a happy holiday, we always have a laugh and always have a grumble too 🤣. Hi Rob, Planning for the reservoir started in the 1960s and construction started in 1979. In 1984, there was a partial collapse of the dam before it was filled. The dam was removed before the construction of a new dam began in 1989.

Surprisingly those trees didn’t cause us much bother, probably with them being so tall. We’d definitely go back there. It’s very tempting to swap cars when you see one that you like 😁. Hi Alan, Good choice of caravan there 👍, we still love ours after 11 years. Yes indeed the battery does charge up when connected to the mains. Ours is stored at home and permanently connected to the mains. First battery lasted 8 years. Cheers and happy travels, Rob & Gail 😀

Hello Tom, we’ve actually got a double step which we use whilst the caravan is in the garage and do find it a lot easier. However we find it more convenient to travel with the single lightweight step in the caravan . It’s more of a step up / drop down but we’re ok with that. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍.
