SSS forks are amazing, best fork out the box. They were way ahead of their time in 2006.. light years ahead of WP's AER 48 forks, or explorer, whatever they call that these days. Which for an air fork it's really good, especially when it gets loamy and deep. Almost feels like a good spring fork, but no where close to SSS. I race local A class and I can just adjust the dampening, rebound, and high/low speed on the shock (after setting sag) and its better than the majority of other forks I've rode with that have been sent off to my local suspension guy, which he used to be a suspension guy at the top level and still works for Dunlop at the nationals and supercross. He did my YZ, basically built to the equivalents of a good B-Kit and I'll tell you, I'd put that set up against anything else. I've rode yamaha's for 20 years befire switching to a KTM factory edition, I'm going back to yamaha and either getting a 250F, or building a YZ300 2 stroke again like my last one. But if you do a big bore 2 stroke you have to get a vortex ignition so you'll maintain the top end, otherwise you'll gain abunch of bottom but lose some mid and so much on top to where it doesnt even feel rideable. A lot of people don't know that which is why big bores used to get such a bad wrap. Here was my build. Started as a 2020 YZ250, 300 big bore kit that was sent off to Eric Gorr for port n polishing, a vortex ignition, Fat head with a custom insert, lighter connecting rod, balance the crank (kept stock crank), a Bills cone pipe with a shorty, port and polish the carb, V-force 4 Reed Block, loudmouth intake with holes drilled and filtered into the airbox, heavier flywheel, Rekluse or Hinson clutch to handle the extra power and abuse, at minimum run VP T-2 fuel or preferably VP110. You won't be able to run pump gas, it'll cause detonation, had it be re-jetted and I also had my transmission tumbled just so it was more precise and odds of hitting false neutral or actual neutral were drastically decreased. Depending on the track i addrd 1-2 teeth to the rear sprocket (don't go with a heavier O-ring chain, you'll lose top, a Z-ring feels more like a light stock chain with the benefits of an O-ring but very expensive) and you'll have a 4 stroke killer...I raced it againt 250F's locally, they won't check or care that it was a 300 🤣. I also bought a blown up KTM robbed and rebuilt the front master cylinder and caliper with an oversized braking rotor, braided steel lines, pads that were more grabby but I can't remember who made them..since brembo takes different type of fluid i ran fully synthetic fluid with high boiling point..then re sold the KTM for what I paid for it. You do have to run a different front wheel and make a custom mount/bracket to make it work, i had to have help getting it to work. I kept the rear brake stock, I do 90% of my braking with the front and love it to be grabby but the rear was good enough, i just added a larger disc and changed to braided steel line, and cap to hold more fluid. The Nissan doesn't over heat as easily, ive boiled several brembo systems riding woods. Then of course the B-kit level suspension. It also had a stock linkage knuckle just lighter weight and polished aluminum, but you could change the pull rod length which I loved and I put Luxon triple clamps which are split like X-trig but they're lighter, stronger, it turned easier and provided a much better feel and more feedback without the drawbacks you normally get when people talk about feed back from the front end. I think I'm one of the few guys who like running a step seat these days, I rarely see them anymore. The rest of the bike was either powder coated black or cerakote magnesium color for the brakes and engine cases for that factory look. I'm going to do the same build again but I may try a different throttle tube cam so it's a 1/4 turn. For any 2 stroke, rubber bar mounts, good grips, and bar inserts are a must for vibration. If you're building an engine balance the crank while you're in there. I had a CR500AF conversion but preferred my 300, the vibration of a 500 will give you arm pump quick lol. And you gotta do a bolt check everytime you take a break

AMA and Field Sports/ Monster Energy need to get their heads out of their ASS and give the fans what they want and let more privateers and the normal Joe's compete at the highest level and not break the bank "Grassroots". It was fine in 97 & 98 when they made an exception to let Yamaha and Doug Henry compete on a YZ 400 against 250 2 strokes with 150cc advantage and not the other way around cuz there in bed with Honda , Kawasaki and Suzuki and they refuse to make a big bike (IE: 125 , 250 even 300 2 Strokes anymore even though the KTM group sells more 2 Strokes then Honda, Kawasaki and Suzuki combined sell 4 strokes. 👍 I know this is a pipe dream but probably a good 50 to 60% of people would pay big money if Honda, Kawasaki and Suzuki started making modern 2 Strokes again like the KTM group (IE: KTM , Husqvarna, GasGas) Thank you Yamaha for being the only Japanese brand continuing to make 2 Strokes and the KTM group for continuing to modernize and evolve 2 Strokes. 👍 2 Strokes have a lot less moving parts keeping it simple stupid & easier to work on 👍 2 Strokes RULE 4 strokes drool !!!! 🤣😅🤪😱😬👍😎

A two stroke motor has more displacement per cc than a 4 stroke. So a 250 two stroke is very equivalent in power to a 450 4 stroke. The 2 stroke motor is much more efficient in the power to size ratio
@siaknijustin2 жыл бұрын
@@5elevenfirewood195, a two stroke 250 has exactly the same displacement as a 250 four stroke. 250cc is the displacement! AMA rules are the only reason that there isn’t parity between 2 and 4 stroke. When the rules were implemented, the AMA severely handicapped the two stroke in order to give the OEMs incentive to develop their 4 stroke engines. At that time the 2 stroke had much better performance per CC than the 4 stroke. This is no longer the case and the rules should favor parity.

People can ride what they want, but if I was a younger man again, I'd give myself every advantage at my disposal to win. And that would be on a 4 stroke. Love em or hate em.
@123bbm2 жыл бұрын
I would like to know what rationale or reasoning if any, could AMA have possibly been using to think that you have to ride a 250 2 stroke in the 450 class and not the 250 class. And even worse, you have to ride a 125 in the 250 class. How can this be considered by any sane person that this has any fairness at all? It's just ridiculous that the AMA could possibly make up a rule like this, it's insane and asinine. If the four strokes are so much better why can't they race heads up against the two-stroke? Is it the manufacturers that want to sell the more expensive, more expensive to maintain, more expensive to repair 4 strokes and not sell the far less expensive two-stroke which ultimately makes them much more money? And AMA knowingly does this on purpose with no reasoning at all. As Carson said, he gets no interest until he mentions two-stroke and then they get real interested. It would be the same thing with racing fans, they would want to view and attend the races much more if two strokes were involved more. Plus if a 250 2 stroke was allowed in the 250 class a privateer would have a much better chance of competing for much less money involved. And if a larger 2 stroke were allowed in the 450 class, it could also be much more competitive for much less money for a privateer. But typical AMA, 50 years of doing it wrong. Just like the MAV TV crap!
