This is a very timely video for me. Learning when to be light and when to be firm is what I’m studying.

I agree. I always match the amount of pressure I give to the amount of give my horse gives. I had to be heavy at 1st and now I can turn my horse with 2 fingers BUT even till today once in a while I got to remind him and be heavier and say "hey remember this... I can get heavy if you forget about being light"

None of my "bag of tricks" for training domestic ated horses DID NOT WORK for my adopted mustang. Carson, you are amazing. In less than a year I ha e her in the mnts hunting, and you have helped me teach her things that have literally saved our lives on the edge of a cliff she bolted too. She couldn't back up, was digging in and trying to get her footing. I was able to get her to pick up her front end, spin and she took off back up the mnt away from the cliff. You are amazing. I didn't exactly see teaching her unnecessary things til she was older, but am so glad I added to her basic ground work. 💕💓💓🙏🙏 I cannot thank you enough. I am setting up an equine rescue and therapy ranch as we speak. You have me the tools and I was able to gain my full confidence back. I am on track to live my dream. I can never thank you enough 💓💕 Also, she learned to side step in 5 minutes, per side. Now she dances sideways 💓💕😍😍 in a good way 💓

I've been to 2 of your clinics! Super simple to understand and I love the way you explain things and work on each individual and their horse. Can't wait for the next August clinic!

Seems so sensible, but is harder to understand than it seems. Nice to see him teach.

Lately I began my training lesson wit THINKING this time you don't get away with procrastinating in the transitions. I will make you concentrate on my cues and will be firm about it. And guess what: My mindset was enough to make him comply. So there was no need to get firmer. I guess my muscle tone was affected by my inner attitude, and it translated to the horse. Yes, horses cant read our minds but the`y can read other things. .

3 tries, increasing pressure... and if on the 3rd “ask” the horse blows me off...schooling. Not rocket science.
