I was working for one of the CART teams and remember this race for a number of reasons. I cannot believe how good these cars still look today. Thank you IRL for doing little to nothing for open-wheel racing in North America.

This was peak Indycar, and would come undone in just a few years

How good was this era of Indycar. Seriously competitive and beautiful cars. Perfect track also. Robby Gordon was very fast in that Lola, pretty close to Nigel.

Although I was disappointed in Mid-Ohio last year when we went to the imsa race. It's getting long in the tooth. Wrote America has constantly made upgrades. Mid Ohio has not. Hasn't changed much since the late 90s.

Packed! Indy Car doesn't pack em in like this. We were up at the keyhole.

We were sitting on top of our motor home on the backstretch and I could have SWORN Al Jr. passed Tracy for the lead right in front of us.But 26 years have dimmed my memory,I guess.I do not remember the black flag.

Great racing all down through the field. The crowd on the hill side was standing up when a pass was about to happen. I got a kick out of that because they were paying attention to the race.

Very enjoyable race, a lot of action in all places.

my friend Tod and I spent the whole race at the keyhole. that was the last time we hung out there because it's a million miles away from everything else. We started to go into the north entrance and get into the woods on the outside of the track by the esses. remember the Trans Am race was earlier too. I think Scott sharp won it. and I remember the end of the cart race, all three Penske did a photo op side-by-side

A shame PTracy didn’t have better success at Penske. He could’ve been a franchise driver, but 7 years was a good run at any team.

Look how packed it is! IndyCar the last few years have drawn decent crowds, but nothing like this!

Can someone explain to me why Rahal's Honda engine sounds so weird? A totally different sound to the other types, was he even using Honda here I know he dumped the project year end,
@charlesm.98583 жыл бұрын
I have been watching Honda from F1 and when they went to Indycars...unfortunately for Bobby he would later regret leaving Honda afterwards but to answer your question it was the designed Honda went with that engine which made it sound different, but in later years it would not only sound like everyone elses..it blew them all away eventually.

Robby Gordon's car only had 5 gears? WTMF??????
@weallfollowmanutd4 жыл бұрын
These engines had so much torque anyway. Didn't really matter. To put it in perspective, 3.5L normally aspirated F1 cars had around 300nm of torque at absolute max. 2.65 litre V8 turbocharged Indycar engines had around 500nm of torque.

8:31 If Scott Goodyear was commenting on his own accident "ok, we see here he's about three inches deep into the gravel trap. He's now going to try and spin the wheels, but the car doesn't budge. He motions to the safety crew to give him a push." 🤣🤣🤣 (I kid, but it's so annoying when he does that on TV. 💀💀💀)

I liked this era where they didn`t go full course yellow at the drop of a hat.It ruins the racing for me especially when one driver goes off the circuit all by himself and deserves to go a lap down. .Now, half the races end up at pace car speeds.

The penske cars were the dominated force the Mercedes Benz engine were just running away with it all year 95 they fell off like fail to qualify at the 1995 Indianapolis 500
