Usually when one team dominates like Penske does during the season. It would've been boring, but this race was awesome to watch. Battles down the field & how the leaders make crazy passes on lap traffic was great to watch. Before the first caution came out, I was in a trans because of the great racing. I love every minute of it. Also I haven't watched this race since it came on in 1994. Great upload.

Wasn't it ironic that it took until Indy and that Mercedes-Benz/Illmor engine for Penske to really click? You could argue that it started at Long Beach, but for me, the Indy 500, and, really, this race when they finished 1-2-3, was when Penske set the tempo for the season to come.

Remember that year the Penske had a 3 car team

12:15 Uncle Bobby explains exactly why the fans (not necessarily the current drivers or the people who own the series, I should clarify, but the fans) miss the IndyCars racing at the Milwaukee Mile. Maybe now that The Captain now owns the Series, maybe the Milwaukee Mile may return to the IndyCar Series, but as long as the series is racing at Road America, it's more than likely not going to happen. 😖😖😖

considering how "well attended" the races were the last time they went there, i doubt it. plus penske does have a hand in Detroit having the post-indy slot now. so as much as i liked milwaukee, fat chance it comes back any time soon

they what called "struggle is real" for Mario Andretti. Because he ended up retired after the last 1994 game. Fittipaldi's mistake in the last laps in Indy against his teammate Al Unser. Jr giving al a win. not at all actually like Team Penske is good. In 1989 (also in indy) it is very similar, but it is reversed after that Fittipaldi's back car was crashed. Still it is mistaking at 1-2-3? But Team Penske is almost satisfied and played just good.

Why didn't Michael stayed at Ganassi for 1995? He should have honored the guy who gave him a chance after F1...
@zlinedavid8 жыл бұрын
Upon returning from F1, Michael initially wanted to come back to Newman/Haas, who he had driven for since '89. But, they weren't set up to accommodate a 3 car team, and they already had Mario and Nigel Mansell under contract. After '94, Michael had concerns about Ganassi switching to Honda engines, which had performed dismally at Indy the year before. He would have stayed had his lead engineer at N/H who lead the introduction of the Ford Cosworth in '92 joined him at Ganassi. But, the engineer didn't make the jump and Newman/Haas wound up with 2 open seats after Mansell jumped back to F1. So they made Michael an offer he couldn't turn down.

because he drove for newman/haas for a decade before he left for F1 and between nigel and his dad, michael had to wait a year to get a seat back.

This was the year Penske "skirted" the rules, which made for a boring season. The Mercedes for that year ran the new PC-23 an easy 100 HP difference. And then of course Mercedes was building the "secret" 500I 12 cylinder Indy 500 engine with 1200 HP. By skirting the rules again, of course they changed the rules the next year.It had reliability issues, but dominated the race.
@sdsmt995 жыл бұрын
Wrong. The PC23 didn't skirt any rules and it didn't give any horsepower advantage. It was simply a better handling chassis with some of the best drivers on the best team. The 500I ran one race, it was perfectly in the rules, no one else had the balls to do it right.

Went to comment on this and saw I already did. Still a blatantly false statement about the 1994 season, the PC23, and the 500i. Not to mention you completely ignored the illmor. Hell, the whole damn thing was explained in this broadcast.
