𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝟭𝟭 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯.
There’s nothing quite like the roar of a high-performance engine. Mustangs, Maseratis, Porsches and BMWs: an array of super luxury cars that most of us can only dream of owning. But what if there was a way to get the ride of your fantasies onto your driveway? A hundred and thirty victims of an elaborate Ponzi scheme thought they’d hit the jackpot when some of the world's most luxurious car brands were offered to them for free as part of an elaborate scheme. Unfortunately, they’d been caught up in a scam. Carte Blanche investigates.

Well. I am a banker and Investigates financial crimes similar to this... What I can tell you is, these deals would NOT be possible if the Banker(s) approving the finance wasn't/weren't corrupt/bribed/complicit... The guy at Marguis is the one falsifying the financials, that is clear. The participants themselves cannot claim ignorance, they somehow new something is wrong here. Wth.

All schemes are designed to play on peoples greed, it’s within all of us to want the most rewards for the least amount of risk or work, some have learned to control this urge while others seem to struggle differentiating between fantasy and reality. Stop living your life trying to impress others and rather spend your time impressing yourself.

It's still puzzles me why people don't do research through legitimate channels, in this case banks. Surely they could have found out that they didn't qualify for finance of high value vehicles with their current income. Not to mention, that "collective" schemes like this don't work using proper finance mechanisms.

The participants bought cars through the scheme costing 50% more than they would pay at the dealership. Am I missing something, why not just buy the car directly from the dealer, and why would one ever conclude a deal where somebody else makes the payments, leaving you high and dry if they default?

I don't think it was a Ponzi scheme per se. In a Ponzi scheme, there is typically no product involved and the lure is to promise a high return on investment. In this case the business was to share luxury cars and not get a return on investment. The inflated prices was needed to get this business to work, but unfortunately, they underestimated the costs of buying and maintaining expensive cars. That said, they did falsify documents to get the vehicles on credit and must be held accountable for that.

From what I've figured, they falsified income to the banks. The banks thought these folks could afford these cars. Now installments aren't being paid and now the consumers are having to live with the massive shortfalls even if they trade in.

And yet no one realize that Celebs are the first people any company runs to when they want to push a product, this product was sold by the owner and banks securing it as an legit product to all these celebs used and there is many more they dont mention in here under fals pretences. What about the buyers lying to the banks and signed an corrupt contract into their own name, did the ambassadors sign it? Dont people do a full risk assesment of their affordability when buying a car, home, who lied with Arrie, not the ambassadors reffering which are called agents by this journalist. Think people think, the buyers complaining now after driving a flashy car beyond their means for free are the only guys in the wrong here right up there with the owner that sold this deals with amazing presentation skills to them. Common sense does not cost money people. In covid times wanting to drive flashy cars for show off, yes will say it like it is, is absurd.

This is actually a great Idea if done legally. Luxury carshare... marketplace app if thinking in terms of a startup business. Anyways These members should have paid like atleast R4k pm for access @ 150 members = R600 000pm(covers atleast 7 or 8 R4Mil cars pm ). These "clients/buyers" were kinda signing "surety" + 1 benefit, They actually got a luxury car. This is basically (example) a friend asking me to take out bond finance on my name for him, and in return I can drive his lamborghini. These palookas failed because they were just not smart. MORAL OF MY STORY - I have seen so many scammers doing so much real work, put so much real effort and thought into a scam... they might as well, in the first place, just do honest and ethical business!!
