Step 1: RENT A MEXICAN CAR Rent a Mexican Car & you don’t get pulled over in security checkpoints or nearby the toll booths. I’ve traveled south more times now in Mexican rental cars than in my Texas vehicles. They will definitely not even ask you to tell them where you are going or anything if you have a Mexican car. Step 2: TRAVEL ON TOLL HIGHWAYS Like I mentioned prior, stay on the toll autopistas, don’t travel on the libre ones or the federal ones. These private toll booth ones are maintained, safer, and faster. Extremely unlikely (I’ve never heard of it happening) that a criminal organization would blocked a toll highway. Just the other public and govt ones. Step 3: GET MEXICAN IDENTIFICATION (This applies if you’re Mexican or are American but have Mexican born parents) With Mexican born parents you are given double nationality meaning you can become a Mexican citizen at the same time as being an American citizen. You can get Mexican IDs, License, and such. It’s way better to travel with a Mexican passport or license in Mexico so that you don’t expose that you are American. This way a cop or bad person won’t want to extort you or ask for excessively expensive bribes. Especially when they threaten to take and keep your ID back at the police dept. (here is where they usually suggest you pay them on the spot so that you don’t lose your ID). If you don’t pay them and play along that you’d rather go to the police station, they’ll hit you with the “I’ll let you off with a warning”. You’d probably care less about your Mexican ID than you’re American ones so it’s safe to risk them taking off with it.

When we (all his friends) raised the money in less than 36hrs, they released him and then required more money to get him on a flight for life. So we raised thousands more. When we got him back, he was brain dead. And they never found the people that assaulted him and essentially beat him to death. Shocker. F Mexico. Will never ever travel to that country. Where in the world isn't respect number 1?
@YungPrince2k16 Жыл бұрын
@@sal2975 In the United States majority of people will not kill you if you disrespect them, no matter if it’s a white or black person although I think a black person is more likely to kill over disrespect. Have you ever met people from New York or Boston for example? They are highly disrespectful and it’s apart of the environmental culture wether white or black. Whereas in Mexico we have a much more masculine culture because life is hard and hard times create hard men we don’t clown around, men act like men and disrespect is not taken lightly you will be killed if you take it to far on a much higher rate than the United States. Specially when you go into areas outside of the city and that’s for normal people that are not cartel related. My mother has over 20 dead cousins and 2 dead brother and it’s due to violence, I’m telling you I know what I speak off. Entire families fight over disrespect and can lead to multiple deaths, they will go to your house and say face to face while looking you in the eyes “such and such said this and let’s handle this problem”. Now for Cartel people, that’s people you don’t want to disrespect period. There’s been alot of Canadians over the years that go to Mexico thinking their tough guys and showing disrespect, they get killed that same day. Respect is valued much higher in Mexico than majority of places in the world because it’s apart of our culture and it’s what can dictate if you live or die. It’s very simple, just don’t ever show disrespect. Even a child can understand the concept

Those groups, particularly in Michoacán, may also be "Auto-Defense" groups. They're essentially private militias that protect local towns from cartels and take "donations" from people driving through. The state has abandoned them and many are at the mercy of the cartels. It isn't obligatory tongive them anything, but giving 'em a couple words of encouragement and $50 MXN will go a long way of avoiding further problems. Source: I've lived in Mexico and have passed by these groups on more than one occasion, specifically in Michoacán.
@WarPigstheHun Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't trust those militia groups either. Know why? Because some of the most notorious cartels infiltrated their groups and became bloodthirsty cartels themselves. This is why I hate militias in the U.S because I know that they'd do the same exact BS if they could get away with it. Luckily we have a strong regulatory agency to deal with them. That and we have far less corruption here than in say my parents' birthplace: the Phillipinnes.

Mexican Army is organized in patrols, they are always close to more military units (caravans, military barracks, or a road frequent to them). Their vehicles have license plates of very few characters, for example L-992 (watch out the colors of the vehicle too). And the soldiers have patches designating military stuff (I don't know if it's rank, utility or ID). If they don't look like that just avoid them with caution if you can. Also try not to travel in good pickup trucks or suburbans in narco states since they can use that and sometimes steal it. If they steal it don't resist, things can go easy or wrong but your stuff is theirs if they ask for them, your life is worth more than that. Drive during the day. Drive on toll roads, be respectful and don’t go around being loud. Keep an eye on your vehicle, and if you get pulled over and the cop is wearing sandals/sneakers- I hope you ain’t atheist because you’re going to need a prayer. Jk just stay calm, they’re looking for rival cartels most likely. Dress humble, be humble, and hopefully they leave you alone. And yeah, Mexican highways are really nice! From 2021 to late 2022 I lived in rural Michoacán ( Villa Morelos) an hour and a half from it's beautiful capital city of Morelia so I know a thing or two about this area... I even bought a sleek looking red Mazda CX7 and drove it all over Michoacán and central México, even to the infamous state of Jalisco, yet never once did I have an issue with the cartel, never. Actually I had more issues with corrupt police (not all, but some) than the Cartel... The cartel do not go around shooting or harassing people at random for no good reason, but cops could bother you because they want money, so it's best to always have a 500 peso bill ($30 USD) on hand in case... I will say this though, it was my first time going to Mexico, I didn't know my right hand from my left when I landed in Mexico city, and everyone had told me BE CAREFUL there, they will rob you, you can get killed, and honestly I was scared for the first couple of weeks until I got to know the true Mexico and it's beautiful people and their respectful culture. Every Mexican I met treated me like a friend, some treated me better than my family, they invited me to their homes, even gave me a beautiful house to stay for free and helped me so much that I could never pay them pack! I can't imagine any American or Canadian would ever treat a stranger they just met like that! I had a return flight that was for 2 weeks but I ended up staying for almost 2 years because I fell in love with Mexico and it's wonderful people. The mexicans in rural towns are down to earth, humble and genuine! Sadly I had to leave and go back to Canada after being away for over 3 years, the entire Pandemic, but I will go back to Mexico. I am planning to move there as soon as possible. Don't believe all the negative press, Mexico away from it's touristic areas like Cancún and Talum or other highly touristic areas is a wonderful place to live in. Unfortunately the touristic areas of Mexico is ruled and ruined by the cartel, and the Mexicans who live there are only interested in your money. But go far away deep in to rural México and you'll meet some of the most wonderful, down to earth, genuinely good people you'll ever meet in your life.

@@chasingtheAmericanDream once on the road driving during the quarantine. I had rented a car in playa del Carmen and drove to Merida down to Campeche and back across to chetumal and back up to bacalar Tulum and playa del Carmen. There were checkpoints every couple of hours on the roads mainly army, wanting to know why I was traveling during a quarantine .. no problems with them but in bacalar there was one local cop by himself and he said I was speeding which I wasn't but he recognized it was a rental car and he acted surprised that I was a. Gringo but of course he knew already..so he demanded my license to write me a ticket. He said I could pay tomorrow at the office and he would keep my license untill then...or I could pay him 1000 pesos right there. Well I didn't drive after that. The other times were in playa del Carmen drinking on the beach with the locals at night or just walking on the quinta avenida ... they work in pairs and come up to me because I am a foreigner they think I have money. They claiim I was pissing on the beach or have drugs on me. All false. One guy goes through my wallet while the other tells me I'm going to jail. One time they took out 2000 pesos and told me to go home but be careful because there alot of theft around there. No shit. Local police are corrupt but I have only been robbed in Quintana Roo so far, although I have heard stories from expats living in Puerto Vallarta too and police did try to get me once on the beach there on playa de los muertos for drugs but couldn't find any.. mainly if you are a foreigner by yourself then they will come after you with bullshit claims.

Rather in more rural areas they’re able to hide and show up out of nowhere. Also my advice would be never travel after dark or early in the morning, those are there favorite times. Lastly try to travel next to another vehicle as closely as possible, don’t ask me why.
