"He's really positive, everybody else feels that strength and feels like there's a captain that is worth following. I'd say that on stage Carter is absolutely the captain, it's really unbelievable to watch him play. I've never seen a drummer just move a crowd, because they don't believe what they are seeing because it's so unbelievable, and in the middle of all that he'll blow a bubble." - Dave Matthews

Such a musical solo, I think is rare these days. Nowadays it's all about about speed and how much double bass you can put into it, but Carter's solo you can actually feel the melody in, love this dude.
@brians7126 жыл бұрын
I absolutely agree. Carter is amazing!
@SammyMakepeace4 жыл бұрын
To be honest though, when he isn't pushed to land on the 1, like he is when the band play along side him in this break, he loses a lot of musicality and seems to *sometimes* just focus on throwing as many singles he can around the place. Love the guy, love his grooves and fills, but his solos aren't always the best

Thepeacemaker6342 yeah I get what your saying, I guess it just depends on how’s he’s feeling or something. Sometimes you just want to chop it up and sometimes you want some nuance.

Totally agree speed is important but when a drummer can make the drums alone something great(melody), its an awesome thing to witness.

I was always a hard rock metal dude. In 1995, I dated a girl that wanted to see them. I had no idea who they were. She mentioned the Satellite song. I was like "geez"!.....I was taken aback by the show and the musicianship. I was in awe and shocked by Carter. All I could think is this drummer is unreal and he very tastefully soloed through every song. It was like 5 percussionists playing at once....John Popper came out at one point. The place went into meltdown mode. What a great show!

The drums are my favourite instrument, no doubt. After listening to many different worldclass drummers all I can say is that Carter never overplays, that he has insane feeling for groove and time.If there is no "best" drummer he's the one who's the closest to completion.He can play any style...lately he uses a lot of double bass...showing that he's got it metal-style ;-) I've seen him live 3 times (they are not that often in germany) never saw anything more stunning!And he's still getting better

This guy is one of the drumming GOATS of the industry. The groovy, funky rhythms and fills with the rock/metal influence along with the trap beats on his hats were so beautifully executed and well combined. Nothing overblew, except the gum he's been blowing bubbles through all night.

yep, you're all right...this is one of the best drum solos i've ever seen...it's dripping in soul and love...even has it's own melody to it in a way. and hey, you can all be this good at something...just try and focus on one thing for 20 years or so and boom...you'll be just as good. we all become masters of nothing because we try and achieve too much too young. work on one thing at a time and what you do achieve in your lifetime you will be a master at. These great artists and musicians are not special...they are human but they differ from us due to their ability to focus...we are all capable of great things...never EVER stop believing in this...you are all Carter Beaufords just waiting to happen... x

Just my opinion, for what it's worth. I find Carter to be the best drummer I've ever heard. He plays technically great, but more importantly he plays drums to compliment the music, and he never messes up (that I've seen, and I've seen them live many times).
