Just bought a new manufacture YO carburetor for my 46 Willys. Mounted it on the engine and fired it up. First thing I noticed was that gas was pouring out of the carburetor. Tried it a couple more times and decided to send it back to the supplier, which I did with his blessing. I have an original YO so I ordered a rebuild kit for $55.00. Not sure why it flooded like that but I didn't want to dig into it and maybe void a warranty.

Well I bought one of these carbs for my old cj2a I plow my dooryard with,It hasnt had brakes since 1988 so shes no show piece but I just wanted it running good to plow.It had the original carb and ran kinda rough so I thought it would cure her but it didnt,Its easy to blame the carb on a old vehicle,I wanted to but I didnt,come to find out my pcv valve innerds were missing and number 3 and four cylinders were getting a watered down dose of fuel ,I repaired that issue,Installed electronic ignition cause you cant get a decent condenser anymore and re installed the carb,I didnt monkey with it like in the video but instead chanced it,I can say on start up it ran like shit,little to no accel pump action but after about 15 minutes she came on line and has been fine since . my advice give it a little time to get that accel pump working and settle in before you get discouraged

I had a joes carb in a metal box. Thought I could take it and drop right on the gpw. No go. ran like crap when it ran at all. The video states the gauges are included Not so. waiting on gauges now to try and make this carb work. There really should be a note in the carb box stating this needs to be gauged before install. i have had carb for a WC from John Bizal at Midwest. Drop them on the truck and never touched it again. Just plain worked. This is a nice looking carb, perfect in every way, just not adjusted properly. At least there is a video on what to do.

I took the carb off and made sure it was fine. A few weeks later, it just stopped. I had to choke it, but it idled. I replaced the fuel pump and now my jeep idles fine, but as soon as I push down on the accelerator, it revs a little bit and stalls out. Do you know what could be wrong?

Scott, I am doing a frame off on a 1947 CJ2A. I have been following alongs with your vidoes of the MB. Have you done a video on the installation of the transmission on the frame? I just viewed the rubber mount on the transmission crossover and you installing the engine videos. Saw you have the trans mounted on the frame.

From other videos I've seen, after setting the metering rod, the linkage should slide into the top and bottom levers without moving the them. If it doesnt then the linkage needs to be bent slighty so it hooks to the top and bottom levers with out moving the metering rod lever or the throttle lever. Is that correct, or am I missing something ? thanks

How do you clear fine particles in carburetor housing chambers that’s the most problematic.

Unless I'm missing something you want to set the metering rod with the linkage from the throttle connected. Setting it the way you did means that the metering rod is likely to be raised up and too high when you connect the linkage. Is there a reason to set the metering rod disconnected and fully lowered like you did?

Initial setting. The metering rod should be set with no tension on the idle screw. This is to check before you install on the engine. As stated in the video, this is a pre installation check. If the linkage is installed correctly, there will be no force from it until the accelerator pedal is depressed. We will get further into the adjustment process on the engine in the future👍

So Joe in the Motorpool can't properly assemble and adjust their own simple one barrel carb? Maybe Joe would learn something if he watched your how to video. Can you recommed a brand of carb that does not have to be taken apart, properly adjusted and then reasembled by the user ?

@@mbmpablo3631 crazzzy huh.. I remember when I was 12 I took apart a Rochester Quadrajet four-barrel carburetor. Rebuilt and adjusted it perfectly without anybody's help. Come on Joe's Motorpool it's a ONE Barrel Carb, how many of them do you have to improperly assemble before you accidently get one right

The very word carburetor is derived from the latin word "Leaveitthehellalone" .......LOLFactory should've done a better job installing that stuff though . Those are static settings and should've been done during assembly .

Excellent. It doesn’t come much clearer and well produced than that. So many other carb rebuild demonstrations are badly lit, out of focus and have the camera so badly positioned that hands and arms obscure the action. Not that one. Thank you.

The crappy directions with all master rebuild kits show adjusting accelerator pump linkage with a tool that dosent come in joes kit and shouldnt that have a bearing on final metering rod linkage positing and adjustment !
