Hello, I want to thank you for your instructions. I just completed my first rebuilt on my 1948 Willys CJ2a carburetor and after a little adjustments it is running better than it has it years. I would never have been able to do it as easily from just reading the manual. Thanks again, all the way from Northern Michigan, USA. jim

I watched the 3 video’s of rebuilding the carb. I had some troubles with the carb. To much fuel .. After these 3 vids i was able fix the carb and made my jeep run again! Very nice vids with good explanation. Grts from Belgium

Hey Matt I found a good way to remove that main jet is to take a little hobby swab paint brush, cut off the swab end and use the shaft to push the jet out. The plastic shaft is flexible, so it doesn’t damage anything and it’s just the right size to fit into the port of the jet but go down the hole.

Thanks so much for the feedback,,,FYI just got a W-O in that I ordered from a seller,,,NOS,,and has the spring clip on the throttle rod,,the little button and spring you mentioned,,it's never been on a vehicle.

You don't bend the metering rod out to get it out. You rotate it while opening the throttle, and there is a spot where it will rotate off the pin without bending anything. You can remove the nozzle with a pen or plastic spudger, pushing it out from the top. The wedge shape keeps from crushing the brass. The small copper gasket can keep it stuck. Conflicting info on the main jet with metering rod tool vs the feeler gauge method, the pin for the jet either ends up below the pin, causing delay while opening the throttle, or no delay lifting the main using your method... Fantastic job by the way, thanks.

FWIW: drill bits make pretty good gauges for setting up a carb

Fabulous! A complicated piece of kit (a carburettor) is complicated no more. Many thanks.

Great stuff - thank you! I was just looking at a photo of everything that comes in a master rebuild kit and thinking I’d never figure it out. Might have a chance following along with you. 😎

Hi Matt, Great series of videos. Very informative and practical as per usual. Can you conclude by adding a piece on the prevention of vacuum loss through the throttle shaft and body ie permissible wear limit/play etc. and defuser gasket to manifold sealing please..
@Greendot3194 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul, When it comes to the throttle shaft I really can't say the exact wear limits, really no wear is acceptable as its an air leak which is why I illustrated the suck test in the last video. There are many carb re-bushing kits/bushes you can purchase online for throttle shafts, if you have any real noticeable wear on the body or shaft then they need repairing/replacing. When it comes to diffuser gaskets make sure it is not the type with copper rivets! The rivets don't crush and the diffuser leaks, another example of repro parts being created without the knowledge of what the part is for and trying to achieve!

Hi Matt. In order to insert the metering rod gauge I’m pretty sure you have to remove the metering rod first. In fact I don’t think you could do it any other way. Anyway a fantastic series. Congrats! P.S. Oh that there was such a detailed rebuild of a Carter WD0 carby available.

Hello, I have a 1952 Willys jeep, the same one equipped with the carburetor that you show in the videos. With the help of the 03 videos posted by you, I managed to replace all carburetor repairs. The only doubt I have is that I am not able to regulate the fuel injection when the engine is fully accelerated. The fuel is not being completely burned, causing the pistons and spark plugs to be completely charred. How do I adjust? Awaiting return. Thanks.

I have a new "professionally rebuilt" WO that I let my buddy put on his 2A. It idled and ran well, but he says that he doesn't have nearly the power that he did before with his old one. Is this an accel. pump (plunger) issue or should I check something else? He took it off and it is now on my bench. Love your videos - best flat fender channel ever!
@Greendot3194 жыл бұрын
Lack of power could be a number of things, if when he presses the throttle it 'bogs' and then the power picks up its an accelerator problem but if its missing power at higher speed then it will be a high speed circuit problem which needs to be looked at. Thanks for the kind words about the channel, I appreciate your support!

If your metering rod is messed up how do you remove it,,someone as usual someone who has no idea of how to remove it messed up the screw slots..Help Absolutely awesome video,,thanks so much for all your info.
@Greendot3194 жыл бұрын
Not really sure what you mean, sounds like you'll have to take the carb bowl top cover off to access it properly?
@douglasbattjes39914 жыл бұрын
Sorry Green Dot,,,,not he metering rod,,,mean t the jet, that's under the screw cap,,the long one that is right next to the airhorn hold down screw,,,you remove it to get at the other one at the bottom of the jet tube, it's the low speed jet,,,stuck, did run a torch tip cleaner in it and it cleaned out,,very small one,,didn't mess up the diameter, just opened it up, some ammeture messed up the slots,,,Houston we have a problem, you went from good beer to red wine,,,try the red Malbec from Argentina Norton is really good. the reserve one
