I’m guessing the poncho was sold as a jigsaw puzzle. Or it’s going to Maaco or the Canadian equivalent chain body shop to be repaired properly by professionals. Then it will be safe and lead free. Gallons of bondo will be carefully applied in a controlled environment. Only money can fix this not hard labor.

All the old school fabricators were like you! Gene Winfield ,bill Hines,Ed Roth, etc. didn’t rely tech. A hammer, torch, lead! The use of fiberglass was high tech! Most people that say rude things, don’t build shiz! They buy things done by people like you, then act cool! Hipsters!! Next time you want to experiment to further your skill set, donate the project to a younger person! To get their love of cool cars in their blood! Or all the old cars will just be left to rot or crushed to make worthless do dads and Knick nacks! Probably soda cans for fruity soy water! I say you be you, make what you want! This car was not salvageable. There was bad rust in non obvious areas since the body was partially flooded for an extended period of time. A kid may not know better and fix/ drive such a death trap. Moreover, a previous owner sold off too many parts to even begin justifying a restoration on a less desirable and (presumably) uncommon car.

@CarterAutoRestyling, i understand your clothes looking like a homeless person lol. When you take a car apart, and then do body work, it destroys your clothes, and if you don't cover your hair, it will be all dried out and full of whatever you've been grinding, sanding, or painting. I live in Michigan, and when it's cold, i don't have much heat. The damn sleeves get all tore up on sheet metal along with everything else. I have stuff i wear only when working on my 54 m38a1 jeep, because otherwise all my clothes would be tore up, and I'd be looking homeless all the time. You had a long sleeve shirt on in a couple video's that the sleeves were all tore up, and i could relate. If you wear short sleeves while grinding off paint and rust or body filler, your skin changes color, so i have certain stuff i wear just for that. The way you dismantled that car was interesting, it actually looked planned, like it could be reassembled, fixing all the hidden rust between the panel's. I'm 53, and the comment about all the younger generation not caring about history, and some other bs wasn't right. I know a lot of younger people working on old car's, interested in the past, not all young people live on a video game system. As a lady, I've taken a lot of crap for working on car's, and building stuff over the year's, but i don't give a crap what other people think about it, because my dad and grandpa taught me a lot growing up, and i just like it. You do have to not give a crap when people ask you if you are gay because you can fix car's, and ran a cemetery. You are all right Kyle, just keep doing you. G-d bless.

Most of those rude comments from arm-chair body men who’ve never welded anything other than their ass to a chair proves to me that they sure are smrt. I did get to sawzall a 58 Pontiac this spring, got what i needed, and tossed the rest into my scrap heap. Not sure if it was fun, but it was satisfying. I did see one thing that was sad once. A guy near me bought a car crusher, and his ad for his service he was offering showed a crushed 54 Chevy. Complete. I messaged him and offered 1500$ for the grille, front bumper, hood and a few other parts. If they were not damaged. That was a crying shame. Crushing it to make $100. Love the channel, keep doing wat you’re doing, get back to work on the 36 Chevy truck.

I've always thought hacking up an old car would fun and now that I know it pisses so many people off I think I'll start a KZbin channel dedicated to just that. Thanks for the inspiration. Your the man.

Not to brag but I think I've got ya beat. Back in 1970 I took apart a running and driving 55 Victoria with nothing but an axe to make a dune buggy and transported the entire body in pieces to the scrap yard in the trunk of a 65 Malibu coupe. LOL. Great minds think alike.

It's crazy how many people leave bad comments from their lounge chairs. Your the only true old fashioned body metal guys on KZbin. Besides the tig welder , you do everything like my grandfather and great grandfather did. It's a lost art. Thanks for keeping it alive. Your also a true artist.

@@CarterAutoRestyling Kyle, Josh Topper on his site "Topper Machine LLC" just used a Dry Ice maker kit used on a CO2 tank to make a small quantity of Dry Ice to shrink fit a part. It is near the end of his video titled "Repairing A Badly Worn, Obsolete Part for a Hay Baler...". I know Dry Ice isn't easily available near you but I believe welding gases are. I used one of these devices years ago in a shop but I have no idea of the current cost? I know your time is limited but maybe the cats could look it up for you between naps and coughing up hairballs.

Humor is a vanishing trait, judging by those comments as are functioning sarcasm detectors. Now, getting back to that chopped Chevliac; I usually don’t like chopped roof cars, but that looked slick. The fact it was a four door made it even more impressive. If it was a money no object build for me I would keep the wheels, tires and hubcaps. Paint it 02 BMW silver. Power it with a 430 Super Marauder and a top loader. Oh yeah, and lake pipes. Btw, who in their right mind hates seeing Frankers?

Fascinating deconstruction of a car clearly too far gone to save. Seeing the extensive rot at the 23:00 mark in the video confirms this thing is nothing more than a donor for the chicken truck build. Still subscribed and awaiting the next action packed video!

At the end of the day, it's your stuff. Do what you enjoy with your stuff. It seems to easy for many top want someone else to save the old vehicles. If that's what they are driven to do, they may save them themselves. I'm not in position to tell you or anyone else what to do with their own property. If the methods you use are what you want to use, go for it. It's not my place to tell you how to complete a task or without being asked tell you how I'd complete the same task. It's your life live it as you see fit.
