I don't think people realize how difficult it is to do lead filler and you certainly make it look easy. I did lead work on a 68 Camaro where the sail panel and the roof come together. After adding to much material and a lot of filing and sanding it came out pretty decent. Not anywhere a nice as yours though.

Good way to put it "I like them a little rough around the edges because I like to actually drive them", that's been my motto since 1966 (had a 59 Impala 2 door hardtop with primer on the front fenders in high school) I have never looked back.
@renash181511 сағат бұрын
Wow, the last person I saw work with lead is Gene Winfield. You know so much for older cars and trucks. I enjoy watching everything you do.

Those fenders are in amazing condition to start. Now they are as good as when they came off the assembly line. I’m used to seeing fenders completely rusted through and mangled so bad that I understand why a lot of old hot rods were fender less . A master at work and his ability to make it look easy. Love the humor also

If you go through the 36 Chevy Playlist you will see that these fenders have had extensive repairs. They were in poor condition to start with.

@@CarterAutoRestyling Funny mentioning this. I was just replaying the "extreme rust" series (old van) and showing my kids how your videos now garner 10k(s) hits (like about 30k on avg) but the older ones are only around 1K. I don't mind plugging it - GO WATCH THE PLAY LISTS. So many good teaching moments.

Dear Mr. Carter. 👍👌👏 I simply love nearly anything that is green! 💚 To own a car which exterior and interior is green, is literally a dream of mine. My favourite is still Scott's wonderful Frazer with it's gorgeous dashboard. This Chevy pickup truck looks great too. Unfortunately there is this big pond between us, sigh. Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and health in particular.

I love the fact that you are repairing the way it should be done, the old school way as they did it back in the day. Ppl always would say doing lead work was so hard to do and to get it finished was a real pain. Watching you work with it I can see how much better of a repair it is for something as old as you’re working on. A short video but a good one keep up the good work. Later

Damn, 1165 miles, 1500 american dolleros, and a chance to get back a truck I once had and miss like hell. Plus a chance to escape this toxic place for a week or two and have a fun road adventure and see a country Ive only ever seen once before. That was only as far as Winnipeg. I dont even have a passport. Shit... Nice work, btw. Thanks for sharing kemosabe.

Hey I don't comment hardly ever but, I agree with you on reparing dents' I spent too many years working on collision repair and saw just too much product instead of just taking the time to get better at your craft. I can't say I've never used fillers but, I always wanted to keep improving my skills. It is what it is and more than not money or how much you make is the bases of what kinds of repairs but, like anythin you're slow at first and then as you get better you get faster as well. With the thinner metals whick are still better than the 80]s on the Datsun trucks or cars the metal was just horrible to work with but, the better you get the better you are at repairing larget spots because you understand what and where to work the dents. Keep up the great work and do it for yourself not the iewers or any one else. The quality you give and are know for makes all the difference. When asked if you were in an accident and couldn't repair your own then who would you trust to fix it for you ? Weell after being injured in a truck accident now I'm in that posisitiion it's be hard to choose but, if you were close I would pick you ! Keep upp the great work !
