After this project I think a row of drilled-out spot welds across the forehead would be an appropriate tattoo. Cheers!

For the face tattoo, to save money, I'd recommend getting it sponsored. Dean might chip in on the tattoo if it said "DEAN'S GREASY FLIPS" in gothic lettering.

Fully agree with you about restorations - I like to keep as many of the original bits as possible, especially because after-market panels are, at best, different, more usually pretty rubbish. Truck is looking great !! Please give us a short version of what took place with the body paint/prep. It looks super !! Hope you will be making all the rest match. That dash and those gauges cleaned up pretty nice. A bit more "elbow grease" by the new owner on the stainless and they will be so happy they purchased this specimen. Looking forward to seeing this one complete !! ;o) It will make a great "brother photo" for the next "Carter/Cold War" " Brothers in Rust" (before-front/after-back) 5 window/Fury T shirt !!!

I was concerned with you swapping speedometer face plates around that it might throw off your speedometer. But since you are keeping the straight six in the truck I guess there is no need to worry about going over 50 mph, unless you change your mind and drop an LS in there. Thanks for all your hard work Kyle!

I'm glad that you are getting the lock strip installation tool, will save you a lot of time. I didn't know the name of the tool on English, wanted to recommend you make it yourself. All you need is strong tin (about 1mm) spring at the end shaped in the form of the lock strip and handle you can make as it suits to you. I hope that I describe this to you in the way you can understand, because English is not my native language. Anyhow, it can be made, and all you need is a MIG welder, and you surely know how to use that. Sorry that youtube is not supporting sending pictures, I could draw you a sketch of it.

Dash looks good, especially with the "GMC" speaker grill. I have been using Krud Kutter gel lately on my rusty dashes. This stuff removes the rust stains without harming the original paint underneath. Slow but effective and saves as much original paint as possible. I'm with you on that. For the amount of labor involved with refurbishing the other body panels, you could just buy aftermarkets and spray them to match. Makes more sense to bolt it back together and punt it as-is, find someone who really wants a project truck or appreciates the "patina". Personally, assuming I could purchase this truck, I'd just get the mechanicals and wiring sorted and drive it as-is. Maybe put a handmade flatbed on the back of it if the bed's completely shot. It's an old farm truck, not a fully restored show car.
