what I like about Vegeta in Super: Broly, is that his motivation to train is to prepare for Frieza's eventual return. While Dende currently hold the title of "Guardian of Earth/God", Vegeta's motivation can also be his declaration as Earth's defender from external threats. And to play to his Royal lineage, it could also be interpreted that he had unofficially declared the Earth to be either the new home of the Sayian kingdom or the protectorate of the Sayain royal family.

I like to think that Vegeta thinks about future trunks a lot more than he lets us know. His son The second Super Saiyan we had ever seen up to that point for him to see his spawn eradicating the man who defeated you. I like to think even Vegeta sees the poetry in that, and when kid trunks nearly clocked him at 7 years old as a super Saiyan he saw a bit of future trunks and that’s why he hit back. He felt what he thought was future trunks. Which is why he felt bad.

I do believe that Vegeta was starting to respect people near the end of the Namek saga. But everybody likes to give full credit to the great android saga and the crummy buu saga. Deep down inside I still believe that 20 years later during his dragon ball hide and go seek game with Frieza, he still remembers the horrible news of his fathers death. Having a broken and isolated heart doesn't mean that there's nothing left of ones self. What he hid to Nappa was terrible but Vegeta nappa and Radditz were trained killers and they followed orders from a dictator.

To be fair, Vegeta is quite similar to Piccolo (including the VO xD) He is much more harsh in his criticism than Piccolo, and is very egotistical. However he has always been honest, He was honest about Gohan being powerful for a kid (and trunks too.) He was the one that defended Gohan from freeza's death beam. defended Goku's pride and respect as a fighter, he was shocked at Goku sending Gohan out to fight Cell, he recognised that he f**ked up when he went apesh*t on Cell and apologised to Gohan for his mistake. He disciplined Gohan for fighting Dabura poorly, reminding him that Krillin and Piccolo's lives were on the line, he was shocked when Goku threatened South Kai, as that was out of character. After fighting Goku he apologises to Gohan (likely feeling bad for helping Buu to be revived.), sacrificed himself for Trunks, bulma and Goku. agreed to fuse with Goku to save his family, got angry at Goku for leaving Gohan and Goten to die, got angry at Goku for trying to whore out Bulma, admitted to himself that Goku was better than him. (super) MY BULMA! Stayed behind to support Bulma during her pregnancy, Got angry at Cabba for his lack of pride, promised to bring back U6, saved Roshi's life, Told roshi to give up before he 'Croaks' used his promises and the things he is fighting for to go ascended blue, swore he would not cast aside those he loved and respected, 'sacrificed' himself to knock Toppo out of the ring. Kept trying to fight jiren despite being utterly drained, apologised to Bulma that he could not keep his promise, entrused goku to carry out his promises, defended Goku's honour by mocking Belmont on his arrogance, gave goku the usual anime speech. (If i am missing anything, go ahead and add to this.)

I never liked him the first time I watched dbz. That was until his death scene during the freeza arc. I was actually moved to tears (i was 15 lol). I grew to like him a lot. Then, when he trashed the android and sacrificed himself for his son, he became my favorite. Looking back, I see a lot of myself in him. I think thats why it was such a slow process, the mirror is never pretty at first. But to this day Vegeta is 100% my favorite character in dbz. :) Also, ocean dub voice was better hahaha 🙃😉
