Took me 14 years of collecting to give Cartier a second look. I went down the Santos rabbit hole and knew I had to have one. I’ve had mine now for 8 months and it’s one of my favourite watches. Pure class in every way, but can still be a daily thanks to its versatility and respectable water resistance. I specifically wore mine for baby #3’s birth because I knew I’d keep this forever and will now go to my son.

Great review. I've said before that I think the the Santos dresses up and down more effectively than any watch I've worn. It can be the classiest, dressiest watch in a collection. But it is just as at home on the wrist of someone wearing jeans and a t-shirt. It's just that good.

I have a Santos that is a bit older (2010). I received it as a gift for our twenty-fifth anniversary. Truth be told, I've never had much interest in watches before and would never have thought to buy a high end timepiece for myself. That said, I have grown to love my Santos and am always surprised when people take note and offer a compliment. PS -- you wear yours very well!!

Like you, the Santos has been living rent-free in my head also since it launched. I first got to try it on in 2019, but I tried on the large. I really liked it but felt it was just a tad too classy for me. Fast forward to July 2021, I stumbled upon an article about Cartier releasing the ADLC version in 2020. I went to the AD & it was in stock! Tried it on & felt that this was the one. I picked it up just a few days ago, on the day of my 10th anniversary as an airline pilot.

I'm currently a college student, I'm frugal, however, I do like to buy quality. However, I couldn't get myself to get an "Luxury" watch, I looked at Omega, Rolex, and Grand Seiko after I set my life up (get a car, fully paid off house, and have money in stocks and investments"), however, Cartier seems to be that perfect "timeless" watch, it looks classical, but, I know it can work in a future setting, I'll probably get the Santos after I'm done with college.

Your video, and a handful of others, pushed me to finally pick this piece up. I have a 7.5” wrist and tried the Large, which visually looked too big for what this watch is supposed to be. The large felt comfortable on the wrist but in the end, the medium hit that sweet spot. I also didn’t want a date on this watch either, so it checks all the boxes. Hope this helps for anyone with larger wrists, square watches are visually bigger than round.

I have a Or & Acier Santos, as well as a vermeil Tank, two legendary watches. And it's clear the Santos is the all-around watch, something you could wear in any situation (except diving!), simple, efficient, luxury but solid. Same as the Reverso, also iconic, they were meant to be wear whatever goes. PS: mine is Quartz, meaning it's not totally true to the original, but on the other way it's much more resilient than mechanical movement and then true to the expected usage on an adventurer wrist. The movement will take a beating without missing a beat. And I found polished steel on brushed steel very exciting, more than Or & Acier!

I'm fortunate on the watch front. I have a 1988 (year of birth) Gold Presidential. The bi metal, rose gold Wimbledon Datejust and both white and black stainless steel Daytonas. However.....on a day to day I find it so hard not to go to my Santos, I have the large with the black bezel. I love it.

This Cartier Santos is just perfect, it is super thin under 9mm while being 100m water resistant for daily use, and most importantly has one of the best bracelets in the market. I also love the pricing on the Cartier pieces. Cartier, Rolex, and Omega are my absolute favorites for a couple of years now. GS is very close but their bracelet sucks and I find some GS models to be overpriced but that's just a personal opinion.

I picked up the large version despite having a relative “small wrist’ - it’s my “power watch”, my classy Art Deco stainless steel integrated bracelet sports watch. One the favorite of my collection. If I was in a relationship with someone that enjoys watches AND if I already had a “power watch” I would have taken the medium size. Both cases are valid and all and it is a magnificent piece

Safe to say no other wristwatch for men has a longer heritage than this one. I did read somewhere that prior to the introduction of the Santos there were some wristwatches made for women but I don't know if any of those are still made today or not like the Santos.

I chose the steel, I think it looks more timeless / contemporary / clean and you can wear it with many different outfits while the two tone version is more a playful choice. I get 80s vibes from the two tone santos, I think I couldn’t look at it 24/7 on my wrist.

@@MinuteMon I am really into this Santos and the Tank Must (XL for the mechanical movement). In your opinion, is Hamilton Boulton a viable option for the big tank? I know it’s less prestige but a lot less $$. This is my first foray into Swiss mechanical watches. I value your opinion.

@@MinuteMon yeah for sure. This is really hard to decide. Between Cartier Santos and Rolex Sub No Date Stainless. Pros and Cons to both. Cartier over all love it, can dress up or casual looks super good on the wrist. Clean look. 100m water resistant good piece of mind to go for a swim or dip in the water. If bezel is scratched can replace to make it look new. Rolex sub, classic watch popular. Very durable, piece of mind.

4:31 3 months in and it looks like its been worn for 3 years. I guess this really does scratch too easily.

I’ve seen people with the same wrist size as me go for the Large, but I personally think the Medium fits the best for my wrist!
