Welcome to Cartier, Santos is a great everyday watch from the brand and the white dial has such excellent legibility compared to the other colour dial offerings. Everyone talks about the bezel scratching and how it's a downside. I've learned to enjoy my bezel scratches which actually has a kind of "raining effect" when I move it left to right slowly. One thing they never tell you about is the plastic protector. The sides of the plastic protector can fray over time and stick out at just the perfect angle to scratch the sides of your Santos with complete ease. Even worse is the fact that these scratches will stand out as it goes against the brushing on the sides. Better to store the Santos in the travel pouch over the watch box if you are going to frequently wear it. Leave the plastic protector in your watch box and don't use it unless you are taking it back to service. If you register your watch on the Richemont Enquirus lost and stolen watch/jewllery database, the integrated bracelet has it's own serial numbers separate to the watch.

Great video. I have an older Santos, the 29mm Carree. It fits my 6.5 inch wrist perfectly. I also bought a Cartier tank must in the Large which is really the medium. I bought this on the Bracelet and it has quick release as well. I look forward to seeing your other videos 😊

What you said about accuracy (metas, chronometer etc) was spot on. I don't really understand the obsession with accuracy. My G shock loses about a second a month, but any mechanical watches I've had were much more inaccurate. Did that make any difference to the enjoyment? Of course not.... just correct the time once a week. It only takes a minute. And off you go

Brilliant video. I was lucky to recieve the exact same watch as a present last Christmas. Agree with everything Ash said about this beautiful piece. I was a bit worried about scratching the bezel after reading people's reviews about it being a scratch magnet but I haven't had any problems so long as it is given a bit of respect and realise it is not a chunky tool watch. 8 years guarantee is unbelievable.😊

Excellent choice IMO. I do like what I consider the horology correct Roman numeral dial that utilizes IIII for the four rather than using IV. It creates a symmetrically pleasing matching weight to the dial face in thirds with the VIII and the XII markers. It also creates the pleasing balanced groupings of 4 numerals ( I II III IIII, V VI VII VIII, IX X XI XII).

I just made the same move and purchased a Cartier Santos Dual Time. While I still enjoy my Rolex watches, there is a style and elegance which drew me to this watch and has piqued my interest in other Cartier models. The buying experience was exactly as you described as well. When I first saw this video, I remember being somewhat disappointed in your turning away from Rolex. I have no intention of selling any of mine, and will certainly continue as a Rolex customer, I do appreciate you helping to show me the way to Cartier as well. It was a delayed reaction, but a most satisfying result. Keep up the good work!

I've been eyeing the Santos Medium for a few years now and if it had a date at 6 o'clock (like the larger model does), I might have already purchased it. However, until the day a "Medium Date" makes its way to the catalogue, I'll keep checking the ever increasing prices of vintage Santos Galbees and Carees, sighing and pondering. A fantastic choice, the medium is the right size for most, it looks very elegant and the quick strap change option is great, can go from sports watch to dress watch in an instant! JLC modern reverso proportions are off, for a smaller wrist you need the discontinued classique 23 x 38, that watch wears so elegantly but does feel like a pure dress watch.

An excellent choice. And I've recently been going through the same deliberations. I also tried on the Reverso in both the UK and Dubai recently, but I've settled on it over the Cartier. It just fits my wrist perfectly and I love it. However, I'd also take the Santos in yellow gold over all else if price were no option.

I have no problem wearing my Rolex's to work or a wedding but anything outside of that setting, the Rolex line is far too thick and gaudy. Utterly pretentious. Enter Cartier, Nomos, Blancpain, etc. Understated sophistication; dressy, but not screaming bloody murder about it.

Fantastic watch. Have to agree with your assesment Vs the reverso. The Santos is one of the most comfortable and versitile watches ive ever tried on. I adore the reverso but its very much a dress watch so youve found a happy medium with the santos

Rolex has never really done it for me, but I have always gone “Ooooh” when I spot a Cartier in a shop window. Not so long ago I spotted the same watch as yours but with a blue dial being sold 2nd hand, barely a year old, never worn (still had sticker on back) I ended up buying it & I absolutely love it, I can’t stop looking at it when it’s in my watch case, although another recent buy which is a Certina DS-2 with red dial now helps me stop staring constantly at the Cartier. I know plan to visit their store on Bond Street in order to just experience it. Excellent review by the way.
