Like many have said, the watch looks fantastic on your wrist. I never thought the bracelet suits the tank as much as a leather strap, but seeing it on your wrist will make me consider the bracelet for sure.

If it lasts a couple of years you couldn't grumble for that kind of price ! The Seiko SUP880 might be of interest to you. Its a Tank homage and goes for £110ish - I have seen them go for less on eBay - maybe worth a look. It's surprisingly difficult to find a tank homage for under £100. If you're looking for something around the £20 mark you can get hold of a SKMEI or CHENXI on Ali express - they make very affordable tank homages. As for how long they'll last.... No idea. Seiko is the best option until you get the Tank. You may even fall in love with the Seiko and stick with it! Thanks for the comment!

@@simonthewatchguy6073 Thanks for the reply. That Seiko looks good but I only like steel watches. I’ve found some this one by Rotary, the GS05280/70. The recessed crown, sapphire and good wr is tempting and specs seem reasonable for the price. It’s a bit bigger than a tank at 42mm but it looks well in the pictures, so I might give it a try.

The piano dial is extremely beautiful, I always wanted that one but the prices seemed to rocket up purely due to some slightly greedy sellers which made me purchase this, as I got an 8 year warranty with it, which has already been worth its weight in gold. I always find that you tend to lose money when it comes to selling online, those kinds of sites take a fee, then you need to post it, which costs, then you've likely reduced the price anyway to sell it. I think if I ever purchased a high end watch again I'd be 100% sure before laying out the cash, because it's painful when it comes to resale time (unless you get lucky)

Fragrances can get extremely expensive!! I've got Floris 89, which Bond was supposed to use. It's not the best smelling stuff in the world, for the price you think it would be. Last watch eh? I've said this to myself many times!!! Glad to hear from you mate! Hope you're doing well.

Have the XL in automatic about a month ago, from Cartier US website at like near midnight, on black strap, went to the chat section if they could come down a little, they wouldn't, but the CS guy said he could authorize an extra leather strap, which I got in blue, cost me like $3450 including NJ sales tax. It was shipped like next day to me and the return address was in NJ. I did toy with going quartz, it is one of the few luxury watches that does make sense, but like having.a second hand and 7 year warranty. There is no wrong in either, get what you want. And like you got it in SS. I don't think it was a mistake, it's iconic and will last a life time. May on second thought might have went one size down because I only have daughters to hand it down to. But do like the size for me. Like you, have a 7.25 wrist.

I tried both on. I thought the larg version was better for going under the cuff. The XL version feels huge compared to this. Whichever you choose will be a great choice.

@@simonthewatchguy6073 I guess because I have a much bigger body and arms ( I workout) that’s why the large looks kinda small for my body and the xl is something that is more trendy right now. Also, the price difference and the type movement are the ones that makes me think it over more. I’m not sure if quarts movement is bette for me or the automatic and the price difference are quite significant ($1k) for someone who is just starting to get into luxury watches.

@@BoywithLoveeee I had the same issue. With quartz, you've got MUCH less maintenance. A new battery $3 every 2-3 years. With a Cartier service, probably around $600 every 10 years. It really depends on what you're willing to pay, if it'll be a long term watch etc etc. I'd personally advise you get a less expensive watch and see if you enjoy automatics before spending so much money. You really don't want to buy any Cartier and then decide you've picked the wrong one.

@@BoywithLoveeee no sorry it's around $60 for a battery change if you do via cartier but you can do yourself for the cost of a battery. The auto movement services will set you back $600 or so every 10 years. So yes, this is why I went quartz!

You can tighten the leather strap, or remove links from the bracelet. If you've got a slimmer wrist then definitely do consider this watch. It suits slimmer wrists very well. I'd just say get to an authorized dealer and try it on before you buy. Thanks for the comment and sub!

I have a cartier roadster. I love the look of a tank but a quartz luxury watch makes no sense. (kinda like having an electric harley). They make an automatic in the XL but it's so comically large it looks like a novelty prop. Not sure why they can't make an automatic in a normal size like everyone else. Guess I'm stuck with my roadster

Not sure I’d go for a tank again. I think I have changed my mind totally and consider it a very feminine watch now. I’d probably save up for a Rolex if I wanted luxury tier. But personally I’m happy with low/mid range watches these days!

Yes the tank xl (auto) is 7.8mm, still slim but feels huge compared to the quartz, purely because the case height and width is also bigger to compensate. The tank XL is 38mm x 40.85mm. I didn't like it as much in person, so definitely ensure you try both prior to purchasing!!

The tank solo large uses 20.5mm straps but 20mm will also fit. Cartier likes using strange lug widths!

Yes it's extremely small and it's on the 7. On the women's Cartier watches, it's usually on the X (10)

So glad I have seen your video. I'm interested in a tank solo, and I was told that I wouldnt be able to swap the bracelet with a leather strap at an AD, which I think is complete nonsense. Glad I stumbled upon your video as the proof is in the pudding, done right here. By the way, what was the rough price for the metal bracelet if you don't mind me asking? Cheers!

You can order the bracelet from an AD, but costs are around $1000 for the bracelet alone. It's not a cheap swap over unfortunately. As I say in the video, I actually bought a 2nd tank, kept the bracelet and then sold the actual face of the watch to someone who already had a strap - but even then, I virtually broke even....the prices for a bracelet are a bit silly unfortunately.

Either way, I'm glad it just takes a regular spring bar, they made it out to seem like they made the head completely different.

@@speomega If you are still looking for an answer, the new models (ref WSTA0052) have a very easy to remove bracelet. I think they copied the bracelet release design they used on the Santos bracelet, I think they call it 'quickswitch'?. You don't need any tools, you just lift a little latch on the bracelet and you can pull it off. I assume leather straps from Cartier aren't difficult to remove either.

Yes very easy. The strap had the toolless springbars which you push in and they'll pop out. They're built into the strap

Good watch. Basically a different shaped Tank really. Worth the money? Possibly. Depends how long you'll keep it. 8 year warranty though, so you'll have peace of mind if you pull the trigger.

You're not wrong. Having had time to reflect on the purchase, it's definitely "not worth it". I think a lot of luxury items are the same. At the end of the day, this is stainless steel, sapphire crystal, and a quartz movement - albeit a great quality quartz movement. It probably costs around £100 to make. The profit margins in luxury items just feels like a way to take money from people who have saved up a lot and/or who are rich.

I bought a 2nd tank and kept the bracelet. Then sold the face of the watch on eBay. The buyer purchased a genuine leather strap from Cartier for £100ish - so we were all happy. It worked out cheaper to do that than buy a stainless steel bracelet direct from Cartier.

Very easy to remove yourself. Just need a very small flathead screwdriver to unscrew the links. Takes less than 1 minute per link. Enjoy!

Thank you! Yes it does come in small, large and extra large. The XL size is the automatic version. The small and large are the quartz versions. This video is the quartz 2019 large model. Definitely try to view them in person at a dealer before you buy. Hope this helps.

It has to be on the stainless Steel strap in my opinion, or I feel it isn't half as elegant.
