Yeah. And wasn't there a huge meth problem going on at the time as well? I remember discussions on how focus was on Marijuana and Crack due to some demographic issues (coughclassist andracistissusecough) at the time I won't get into, but I know there was alot of crazy stuff going on surrounding the war on drugs and how it was handled. Made worse when the later prescription drug/opium epidemic was in the limelight.

I recognize Michael as prolific voice actor Jason Marsden, who started out as a child voice actor and this was one of his earlier roles when he was Michael's age. And even to this day, despite being in his late 40s, he continues to frequently voice teenage/youthful characters, because he has that midway-through-puberty dudebro voice, ala Corey Feldman or Michael J. Fox XD Also, this was the first time Jeff Bergman voiced Bugs and Daffy following Mel Blanc's death the previous year, and he would continue to voice them and many other Looney Tunes in various other appearances down the line.

WB actually guilt-tripped the late Mel Blanc into doing PSA records for drugs, but he passed before this came out. In his steed Jeff Bergman was forced to redo all of his lines ( before they fired him for claiming he was Mel's replacement)

I remember watching this as a kid back then and yes I was more excited for seeing all my favorite Saturday Morning Cartoons characters. This to me was the best crossover EVER!!! I never did drugs but this never turned me to do any but to each their own. If I ever could find this from a TV airings I would LOVE to be able to have it to own. I LOVED every second of this review. Well this came out in 1990 and this is around the time this is before cartoon started to more dark and started to focus on character depth and storytelling which to be honest that was something that this special really didn't have after all we were just entering into the 90s and pretty much the stuff that made '80s cartoons what they were was still there in most cartoons that were coming out in the early half of the '90s.

The days of D.A.R.E. feel like a fever dream now. I remember seeing this special, but i remember alot of weird ass stuff we had to watch. Its hilarious in hindsight knowing that in their attempt to scare kids into not doing drugs they prettt much caused cases to spike, because they focused on scare mongering and not actually deconstructing or looking deeply into the reasons drug abuse happens and how addiction truely effects people.

On a rewatch, one thing i never really noticed before is how every character in this is looks like they came from in their respective shows, even animated in the same style and everything, like Garfield looks like he jumped straight out of an episode of Garfield and Friends, The Chipmunks with the 80s' show, and even Pooh and Tigger's style is accurate to The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.

I also seem to vaguely remember the very similar; 'Earth Day Special', shown on the BBC here in the UK in 1990 (I'm old...). A lot of the US references were lost on us kids but I still remember Doc Brown arriving (back from the future) to tell us Mother Nature was on the way out. We were all disappointed because the trailers heavily emphasised the Back to the Future connections! We thought it was gonna be pretty much the next sequel!!! Instead we were treated to nearly 2 hours of the kind of heavy-handed American earnestness usually banned from prime time BBC One back in those days. On the plus-side there was a brief appearance by E.T., which stopped us from fully rioting and burning down the local newsagents. 😜
