These magazines were nothing short of magical. I've been a Cartoon Network fan for 25 years, not once did I pick up their magazine. I didn't even know it existed until 6 or so years ago. I eventually just started gathering as many as I could before I eventually ran out of space. It just feels weird that there was this part of CN history that ran for years completely without my knowledge...

The Disney mag having Anakin and Doctor Who on their cover is funny knowing Disney now owns Star Wars and the international (non-UK) distribution rights of Doctor Who.

Loved this! Brought back some fond memories. I once got the Cartoon Network lucky bag from Woolworths which came with the magazine inside, and both had the same cover of Johnny Bravo looking into his hand mirror, which i remember doing a drawing of! I got the Talkboy watch that Christmas (which only recorded 7 seconds!) I think the pen did a minute. Then i got the actual Talkboy itself the following Christmas. It was very popular here at the time (probably because ITV only started showing Home Alone 2 from 1997) It would be interesting to see one of those old tv guides that Telewest would post out to you monthly during the late 90s if you were a subscriber, and basically had the tv listings for the whole month. One i remember came with Cartoon Network sniffing cards!

Brilliant art in the ‘Dexter’ comic strip, the old magazines were beautifully put together.

Interesting. Takes me back to my childhood when I used to read a lot of magazines, comics in the past. I also have a hobby of finding old adverts from magazines. I used to have a truckload of old Cartoon Network magazines and enjoyed reading a lot of comics of some of my favourite shows on the channel (e.g. Dexter's Lab, Grim Adventures, Powerpuff Girls, etc.). Considering that I've been a fan of the channel since I was little, that says a lot. I also very much like the artwork they drew for the comics. It's amazing how the magazine, or in this case, a "Comic Special" had begun until the end (counting the short lived revival in the 2010's during the Check It era) I think it's interesting to look back at old magazines, and I'd be interested to see you look back on the OPS2 magazine, since I used to read these too. I enjoyed it so far. On the topic of magazines, have you heard of a multi-format gaming magazine called Edge? It's one of my favourites.

Glad you enjoyed the video! I used to have a couple issues of Edge - I didn't read it regularly, but I remember picking it up around the time the PS3/Xbox 360 were coming out and they were comparing the two consoles. Most of the time, I bought the OPS2 Magazine for games news and PowerStation for cheats. 🙂

@@BacktothePast Fair. I loved the graphic design on the magazines for some reason, mostly on Edge.

I remember the cartoon network comics as well Mainly the cartoon crackups which surprisingly made comics out of more infamous cartoons such as hi hi puffy ami yumi, camp lazlo, my gym partners a monkey and they even did chowder comics which is cool I found out years later that these cn comics were made before as part of the cartoon cartoons comics which did comics out of sheep and the big city and even cow and chicken Dexters lab and powerpuff girls had their own comic line too Surprisingly theres no time squad, mike lu and og, robot jones, squirrel boy, and flapjack comics which is criminal because cartoon network made comics out of all of their originals so why not the rest I may want to try to find them

I never really knew that cartoon network made their own magazine Then again I was a nickelodeon magazine collector as a kid Yes despite being a cartoon network child I used to collect nickelodeon magazine issues Though to be fair alot of nicktoons are just as good as the cartoon cartoons so looking back it's not really too far fetched It's honestly a shame that network magazines are no longer a thing but then again its because of the changing landscape of the audience Man cartoon network magazine, nickelodeon magazine, Disney adventures, fox kids club It's a shame I didn't grew up with cn nor fox kids club magazines But hey the 90s and the 2000s are the years of kids network magazines

I think the Cartoon Network Magazine did last for quite a long time over here, but I'm not sure if if's still going anymore. After the early 2000s, these types of magazines dipped in popularity. I was lucky to still be interested in them growing up before the internet became so prevalent. 🙂

That's W.I.T.C.H not Winx Club, even though both of them are made in Italy.
