That little car at the bottom of page 13 is probably a Messerschmitt KR200, one of the weird little three-wheeled bubble cars that were made in Europe in the 50s (along with the BMW Isetta and other microcars).

I fell in love with Veitch’s work through Brat Pack. Seminal stuff!

that three wheel car is a messerschmitt produced after ww2 in Germany which is the same car from the film Brazil. it is basically a covered disel motorcycle. also called Cinderalla's Coffin .

TMNT Season 3, Episode 6 "Race with the Demon", I got to design Donatello as a Rat Fink-ish mutant ( the top part, not the car). That kicked my ass.

“Spy Hunter” reference . Yes! Dropped many quarters on this at the arcade back in the day.

This is the only TMNT book I bought in my misspent youth--the only one I ever saw for sale in my small town. It blew my mind. I've been thinking about this book for decades.

Rat Fink is an omnipresent Eldritch God. You have probably seen it but a great car movie from the '70s is Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry. Well worth the watch. Death Race 2020 is another fun car racing comic.

Love this issue. One of my very first comic books. Total mind blower

Also, Casey Jones really reminds me (in some panels) of the cover to an album called Possessed By Fire by a band called Exumer from 1988 in this issue of TMNT, amazing stuff guys!

Never bought that many Turtles books, but I do like Corben and I do like Bisley. Have you looked at the Body Count Turtles mini-series? Very John Woo inspired mayhem. Actually any Eastman/Biz collab would be fine with me.

This was one of the most important comics i read as a young teenager, coming right off the great River storyline, thank you guys, amazing content, better than any netflix or hbomax!

I believe the beatnik one is an homage to Roth himself once he un-mutates. It looks like how he actually looked in real life in a way.

Yeah, that lingo is total 60s Hot Rod slang that one would find in an innumerable number of magazines from back then. Whether anyone actually talked like that is hard to say. The mutant monsters driving around in whacked out rides is a Rat Fink thing for sure, but also leans into Weird Ohs, which were themselves a kind of a subcategory of Nutty Mads.

Kenichi Sonoda does draw great cars! I just read Sin City Family Values and Miller's cars are pretty good - he's clearly referencing real cars and it shows. Another great car artist - Mark Schultz in Xenozoic Tales! - JR
