Those TMNT books are sweet. I always tell people that the turtles didn't have different colored masks, they all had red masks. I'm 50yrs old, I used to buy those when I was in Jr High. Loved Eastman and Laird.

Really like the part where you called them about the sticker and dealt with the sticker residue. I think it would be really cool to do more videos like that about taking care of your collectables and dealing with problems like that caused by sellers/companies and shipping mishaps in general that effect collecting. This is late but maybe you'll read it... It's crazy but the best way to remove sticker residue is with oil. I've tried olive oil and just regular vegetable oil. Use it with a microfiber towel and you will remove the residue without clouding. After its gone use a light soap and remove the oil.

When I remove stickers I heat them with a hair dryer. Usually NO residue. Usually burnt fingers because it cools off quick and you have to keep reheating. Extra issues in this case as you don't want the heat to damage the comic or the case.

When the sticker residue came up I was shouting LIGHTER FLUID!!! at the screen. Ronsonol even advertises removing stickers as a use for the product on the bottle im pretty sure!

I think air dryer would help to get rid off the sticker and wipe it off with wet cloth, residu would remove earlier because it’s warm.

I changed the light bulbs in my house and got UV protection and just keep them on display in a room where i don't open the window black out the window AND rotate them. All in all it would be easier to just store them away but i'm obsessed.

I bought 25 or so CGC comics about 10-12 years ago, mostly X-Men comics between issue 100 and 130 but a few others like New Mutants 98 and so on. Wish I bought more since prices have jumped insanely! I ended up selling 20 or so and only have about 5 left but I do miss buying them and wish I had some more older classics but at these prices now I can't justify it.

More collector than investor, mostly MtG and some comics. I couldn't put comics in sealed cases like that though.. never being able to open them. If you put a card in a case you still see the front and back.

Hell yea loved the vid, amazing books and I’m glad you were able to get that TMNT #2 man. If you’re looking to grab sailor moons first U.S. appearance in comic books it’s in Mixx Zine #1. Sailor Moon #1 in my preference is much better cover to display though because their first app came in a book with multiple anime characters on that cover. Hope that helps!

Oh no! I'm only 7 mins in but you can use a blow dryer to make the sticky part tacky again and the sticker should come off smooth. I do it to take it off of candles

Sticker should not have been on the cases, love the extra call to the auction house. Great picks on all the books. You are nuts on your opinion on a signature ruining the book, unless it is a photo of Sean Connery signed by Roger Moore, different strokes though. Oddly do not care for CGC or any "slabbing" services on comics unless it is signature series where it does make sense to put it in a case after witness verification, open them comics and enjoy them Rick! Feel those off white pages!!! Just the smell of old comics that is being blocked by those damn jails. Great video, had been waiting for this. Also bruh get some of those NFTs on the WAX Blockchain plz.

@@rickglassman Various gas fee issues, issues with overall scalability of ETH itself, WAX being a dedicated chain to NFTs, has many licensed properties Topps with Garbage Pail Kids, MLB, more, Funko Pop / TMNT official thing, William Shatner, Capcom has their Street Fighter cards on it, Weezer, Leonard Nimoy, way more can't think of, but on top of that independent artists supported, easy to make NFTs on it yourself. EDIT: The images you made for the cards are already done, you could just put them on the WAXP chain as well OR, mint variants of the ones you have on the ETH chain. Fuck with all us nerds who need each variant version ;)

Rick, I face a similar problem as far as possible display-deterioration goes. I collect older basketball cards and have recently started displaying them with wall mounted cases. You mention UV protected glass but it does seem unanswered to a degree - given 98%-100% uv protected glass, will it actually be sufficient to sustain colors? Could indirect sunlight penetrate them to a degree that could still fade items? Would LED-lights solve for this problem? I have yet to see satisfactory answers to these kinds of specific questions.

I completely agree. They took the time to package nicely. They understood to the point of at least doing that but they didnt understand enough that it's a huge no no to put a sticker one a graded comic case. It gets tiresome how badly some of these ebay sellers are. One of my biggest pet peeves is when a comic book seller is selling a comic book or graphic novel and you message them a question and they cant even answer it and their reasoning is that they have so many items. Meaning they dont actually know the condition of the item, if it has remainder marks, if it's a library book, only have a stock photo. Honestly its rediculous. And that's just one of many things that drive me crazy.r

re: sticker residue,...use WD40. >>>DO NOT spray it on your plastic. Instead, spray it into a container or bowl, that you can then dab your finger into, and massage it into the sticker.(I use the lid of a spray paint can.) It will dissolve the glue. BE GENTLE when spraying WD40. Over-spray is bad.

fwiw re: collectors economics: be careful about assuming things won't go down. I don't think they will drop much (anytime soon), either, but there are a lot of old sports card collectors who watched the scene tank by the time Y2K rolled around.
