Thank you. I simply reinstalled the old cartridges and removed them, before replacing with the new ones and it worked.

Neither method worked on my HP. But, I switched the little chip from the original empty cartridge to the new (but unable to be read) cartridge and now it works again. I hade to turn off the machine and restart it. It reads that the cartridge is low in toner, but it accepted the new cartridge and it works!

Is there a way to just print in black and white with the Epson xp-410? Such as put all black cartridges in or just the black one? I purchased an Epson XP-410 but find I only need to print in black and white. It is very costly replacing all the color cartridges especially since it is not needed. Thank you.

This method did nto work for me...printer works fine with old cartridge (very faint) but as soon as I put in the new cartridge it is a no go! You are truly lucky if i worked for ou!

The second solution worked on a HP printer with 5 ink cartridges. Only one minor detail though, I wasn’t able to put the trouble cartridge in without turning the printer on first.

I just recently bought a colour printer from someone and the printer is saying that the black toner cartridge is not compatible. It was clearly used from the previous owner so I’m not sure why it’s not working. Is there a way to get around this?

I tried all this and then some. I have a Canon MF641C. Apparently it won't work with another brand of toner. I bought some compatible toner cartridges from Amazon. They fit fine and are very similar to the original Canon cartridges. The printer recognizes them and can tell me that they are 100% full but will not print. I get an error message that just says "Error: can't print (file name)" Very annoying. So, I'll be trying to return these "compatibles" ASAP.

If these didn't work, just get the chip from the old one and switch it with the chip of the new one. The printer will avertise you that you need to switch the cartridge but at least you can use it.

You can make Your printer chipless - that means it will never require ink cartridges - IC Chips on cartridges - You can use cartridges without chips - printer will show always 100% ink level full. It is the best solution for Epson printers.

Does not work for us. The printer still shows cartridge is locked. We have 5 HP M604 printers. They all use the same generic brand toners from the same supplier. I try to swap the toners among them, but only that one insists "organic food". The rest work well. I look through the whole menu and settings. I do not see any option about cartridge protection. any idea?

I think there is microchip in every HP ink cartridges. The printer doesn't accept refilled or fake ink cartridges. High tech ?

I had the toner light blinking on a Laserjet 1606dn and tried everything there is on the net - to no avail. Eventually I gave up pushing buttons and what not and went for the screwdriver. Before taking the thing apart, I had to remove all the paper from the tray and found that the lowest sheet of paper at the bottom of the tray was jammed. After removing that, the printer worked fine again. Why in the world does a sheet of jammed paper make the damn toner light blink?? HP mystery. Grrrrrrrrr.
