The "Wimbledon of Chess" attracts the very best chess grandmasters in the world, along with thousands of amateur players, live event visitors and online visitors from around the world. In 2018, the Tata Steel Chess Tournament celebrates its 80th anniversary.
The tournament has two main player groups, each with 14 players. They are known as the Tata Steel Masters and the Tata Steel Challengers. Both the Masters and the Challengers play their first round on Saturday 13 January 2018. The chess moves of both can be followed live online. In addition to Grandmaster events, the Tata Steel Chess Tournament also organises amateur events that are open to players of all levels.

The games played by machines really are boring especially when compared to legendary classics like Anand, Kasparov, Tal etc. Modern players like Magnus Carlsen even though they are really really good but these classics are just different.

Anand is the last one of the classic chess player who is not corrupted by chess engines.. Nowadays chess players remembered approx all the variation from engines and play almost like machines.. They have no soul like old clsssic players..

I think you missed the variation which anand also discussed in his post match presentation that after Caruana Qxe5 there was a move Knc4 eyeing that d5 square and after Qxh2 Knd5 and black is completely lost he cant develop his rooks or anything for sacrifice of one pawn he gets great positional advantage but he said he was afraid to consider that move :D

It's funny how the blunders in GM games are more subtle . You dont see hanging pieces but over time you find yourself in a bad spot . Playing solid chess doesnt cut it in the higher rankings and it's also interesting how GMs analyze many moves in advance .

9:39 bishop to g7 is also a winning move after rock takes, white rock to d8 check followed by a knight to g5 check if pawn takes then a quick checkmate by queen on h5 if rock takes then at least you grab the black queen

At 4:00 he could let black capture the rook and then move his black square Bishop to b2 then when the queen moves to the only space for it to escape (a2) white could then move knight to c3 permanently trapping the queen

Black's bishop at g6 can take down white's on e4 and distract the queen, when the white queen's distracted black queen can take down the other white's bishop.

@@prasanna5836 u are right but there is one more way to trap the queen when black queen moves to d4 and checks the king the rook can block the check by moving to f2 then when the queen captures the rook on a1 Bishop can again move to b2 then when black bishop on g6 captures the white bishop the queen can move to c1 now the white bishop and horse both are protected now queen would have to move to a2 then u can move the horse to c3 and trap it
