This axe handle is made in in ash and black veneer. It is 8 sided and the veneer wraps around the handle. I carved my signature print into the handle. It was a challenge to wrap the veneer around the handle seamless, but i'm very happy with how it came out. This one is available on my website but i'll be making another one. I have used this one and it has a few scratches so i don't feel comfortable selling this one. If your interested check this link. woodbytoth.big...

I swear, sometimes I think that you think that you need to make a project as complicated as possible with mundane details and little complicated steps..... well.... so do I. Your process is fun to watch and the people who know what to look for will appreciate your work. I certainly do.

Your leopard print projects are always amazing in the execution. Just a thought, have you ever looked at filling the spots with epoxy for a smooth finish?

Kyle Toth is the guide you have on the rotary tool specifically for that tool? I’m looking for good one so I can lock the distance, but they all seem cheap.
@PapiSmerf
@PapiSmerf 4 жыл бұрын
@@Thesotochannelblock Pretty much all of them are cheap. Not-cheap would be a Proxxon with a router plate accessory. Excessive would be a Proxxon with the engraving accessory jigged up so that you could use it on large workpieces.

Your hands are just going to be a blister from the leopard print.. also what Walmart isle did you get the black stuff from? If you can’t tell, I listen to the podcast religiously.. looks awesome Kyle! As everything you do does🤘🏻

So beautiful. I’d probably hang it up rather than using it. I imagine your glands would get chewed up quite a bit from the roughness, especially after an hour of chopping.

Greetings, super cool, i love it. this is probably self explanatory as you have done it but I am currently refurbishing some axe heads and wanted to carve some designs on the handle, but will i encounter the risk of making it weaker? and if so, what should i watch out for?

Great work. What’s the tool that you created the mottled cut out of the material you glued to the end of the handle. It looked like a small router. I want one ! Keep the good work coming 😉

Have you ever tried making the line more organic and following the path of the print insted of endung it in a straight line? I know it's more difficult but i think you enjoy that 😏

@@WoodByToth sorry, i mean to route an organic edge on the handle instead of curring it straight, the copying the edge on the veneer before glueing it, and then you continue to do the pattern, but with an edge that starts/finishes like the pattern, i hope i expressed myself better!

Looks really cool and good for light use but an extended work with that handle geometry is going to tire your hands out and the decoration at the throat of the handle is going to tear the ever living fuck out of your hands.

You would've had a better chance convincing me that axe was actually going to be used if you didn't demonstrate it while wearing a pair of fluffy loafers. Edit: Don't feel bad, I feel I do some of my greatest work in my underwear. I just don't post videos of it online because of the potential crippling shame.
