I love carvedilol. I was taking only losartan 50mg and it wasn't touching my blood pressure but because I also have chest pain and severe heart palpitations my doctor prescribed carvedilol in combination with losartan. Now my blood pressure is under 120/80 all the time. I haven't had anymore chest pain and barely have any heart palpitations. Carvedilol has been amazing for me.

@@daicelfederico6 I would speak to your doctor but the Carvedilol may be whats keeping your blood pressure stable. Never ever stop taking a blood pressure medication without speaking to your doctor.

@@daicelfederico6 By the way I'm not sure in what context your question was now that I thought about it. If you meant "is carvedilol safe to take if your blood pressure is already stable" meaning, your not prescribed the medication and your asking in that context. Do NOT EVER take Carvedilol if it's not prescribed because it can cause dangerously low heart rate and blood pressure to the point where your heart can stop. Especially if your not prescribed and your vitals are usually stable. I'm hoping that's not what you meant. But I just had to put that out there because there are alot of people out there that do really dumb things. Beta blockers or any heart medications are not to be played with. Have a great day!

I have never heard that alcohol can lower blood pressure. Every doctor I have ever had has said it elevates BP. I have been having nothing but bad reactions to BP meds for several years now, after taking them with no problems for years. I was on Lisinopril for about ten years and then suffered angioedema from it. Irbesartan, caused skin blisters. I have been on many other BP meds for many years, some have helped until they didn't. One thing I do know is that my sexual function diminished precipitously since I started taking them. Carvedilol has pretty much shut that aspect of my life off completely.

The Mayo clinic and other online articles state that the newer beta blockers such as Carvedilol do not cause weight gain as opposed to older ones such as Propranolol etc. Why is there so much conflicting information about this?

You're right. I noticed there is conflicting info about many different meds. It's frustrating so I guess it's better to just ask your doctor or pharmacist. I read that Carvedilol doesn't raise blood sugars but on another website I read it does. I have to watch my blood sugar and it's very annoying to read different things about the same meds.

Been taking Coreg for 19 years after my heart attack and bypass surgery. I started with 25mg for about 6 months but that gave me some fainting like symptoms (even though I never did faint) so that was taken down and now doing fine on 9.5mg.

I've been taking Carvedilol(6.25mg twice a day) since February for palpitations also and I don't really have high BP too but it does really helps with palpitations. My palpitations have slowed down alot or could be gone but the Cardiologist is getting me off this medication now. Pray to the Lord above and give him your time. He will heal you🙏.

Yes you can but You won't reach Target heart rate. I exercised in the morning before breakfast and Carvedilol.

the erectile dysfunction part and masking diabetes symptoms is not true with carvedilol as it's non selective beta blocker, but it applies to other selective beta blockers though.

These side effects have been reported by people taking carvedilol. They occur less frequently than with other beta blockers, but still can occur. I suspected it is somewhat related to dose, and these side effects would only be expected at the higher end of dosing.

Not sure commenter will come back but I have experienced low heart rate (down into the 40’s while sleeping) before I had tachycardia & high blood pressure. Now I have a normal blood pressure and bradycardia. I’m on 6.25mg & will likely be going down a dose. My chest pain stopped for the most part. I’m able to exercise much longer than before, I feel it’s actually easier for me to breathe except when I’m sleeping. If you think you may have sleep apnea I would address that with your dr before starting this medication.

I am now 272 lbs. the Carvedilol didn’t help me lose weight but also didn’t cause me to gain or make it harder for me to lose weight. My weight has always been affected my different medications as well, thankfully this one, it’s not🙂 I am on 6.25mg BID (twice daily)
