That was some sweet driving and that exhaust sounds great too.

It's easy to dock with a little practice. Notice NO bow thruster!

I had a Carver just like that for 11 years. Great boat. Mine had bow and stern thrusters but I didn't use them that much since it handled so well with just engines.

Good to have for the just in case but not necessary for most docking.

Now, try that 180 maneuver with a single engine and no thrusters. I'm sweating just thinking about it.

First you need to know which way the boat walks in reverse. Then it would be easy.

When I first got my boat. 50 foot , single engine , no thrusters I was a bit nervous . Spent an afternoon out on the bay on a weekday and practiced

Practice is the best plan for success.

My prop turns clockwise in reverse so the stern pulls to the right. That means turning to the left is the easiest. I leave the rudder to the left during the reverse bits, the stern keeps going to the right anyway. The difference between a twin engined boat is that I need to put the engine in reverse a few times during a sharp turn. Reversing into a slip means reversing a few meters and then give a short forward burst to get the boat straight/aligned again. No sweat when there's no wind. Mind you, our current boat is our 4th boat. Got my first boat around 1985. Practice helps. But I still manage to occasionally f*ck up when it is windy. But I never go faster than I am willing to hit something ;-)
