I had multiple people asking to see the process behind taking on big projects. So, while I don't teach you how to do everything I show in the video, I hope this provides some insight into my process for attempting a big project like this. Tell me what you think....did you like this format? Should we do more like it?

Yes. This is exactly what I want to see more of. If I see another cowboy leather piece, it better be where the cowboy is being eaten by a dragon. Seriously, it is wonderful to see carving that is not in the western motif.

man you make that look so easy, I've been thinking about getting me a leather tooling set for a long time but keep procrastinating, I used to airbrush and still have all of my equipment, I haven't drawn anything free hand in a long time but it looks like that's not a necessary skill to have for leather tooling. now I just have to convince the wife that the leather tools won't be sitting in a box like my airbrush is.

@@TheLeatherverse the fact that is not western floral, and that it is well done. I would like to see yoda from starwars or Groot from guardians of the galaxy. Something different. I love leather work and think we could bring more people in the art if we can break free from the floral stereotype. Thank you for your contribution. P.s. I think flora is a great way to learn the basics but that it needs to lead to something more if it's going to have wider appeal

If wood is dented, they can raise the dent with wet rags and hot irons. Steaming the dent. Do you think that might work for correcting mid-bevels as the left wing about 13:00 time stamp?
@TheLeatherverse
@TheLeatherverse 2 жыл бұрын
It's a good idea. My initial thought is that it probably wouldn't work just because of the amount of water put on the leather during tooling. It's possible that the water/heat combo might make the difference, but honestly (with this specific mistake) it was a pretty easy fix.

@TheLeatherverse
@TheLeatherverse 2 жыл бұрын
In a large piece like this, especially during the winter when the air is so dry, I re-wet a lot. At first, I use a sponge to really case it thoroughly. After that, I do a surface case with a spray bottle to maintain the moisture.
