It would be cool to see a tutorial on a spoon with a chipped out angel design on the handle. Thank you for the relaxing video!

Really pretty spoon handle, definitely different and unique! Can really see how different woods handle being carved alder seams to come off in more small chips compared to basswood! Love the videos and the work that goes into them 🙂

What finish/oil would you use on a spoon to be able to use?
@BeaverCraftTools3 жыл бұрын
Usually, we finish our woodcarving projects with linseed oil or Natural Beeswax: bit.ly/2ONqh4a The wax makes wood more beautiful, shows fibers and texture, impregnates wood, and creates a protective moisture resistant layer.

Nice spoon. I have a question about wooden cutlery. What kind of wood is safe to make a spoon with? Wood, except basswood. An example, I don't think is a good idea to stir the soup with an oak spoon ... Or yew wood in the tea ..
@BeaverCraftTools4 жыл бұрын
Thank you. As an example, you can practice on white pine, but a hardwood spoon will be more durable in the kitchen.

Oak is a horrible wood to use in food - the chemicals in the food react with the chemicals in the wood and stain it black and evil looking. Also the fibre structure absorbs liquids. Taxon - the poison in yew - is found mostly in the berries and if your spoon was nicely sealed with a good oil/wax mixture it's doubtful if that brief exposure to the tea in stirring would have negative consequences.

Can I make a suggestion, I wonder? Would it work if you slip on a pair of those yellow rubber kitchen gloves to a size that will suit your hand - then stick the protective tape to _those_ ? That way when you're finished working or go back to work again you don't have to apply new tape; just slide your hands gently out of the gloves. Here in South Africa that tape is _expensive_ !

It may be not so comfortable to hold both tool and figurine, they might be slipping out of hand

That's a great spoon carving! It looks like the blank is thick enough to add some crank to the spoon. Is that possible?
