WOW!!!! Alec, that was amazing!!! I was watching, and as you carved the cheeks higher, and the eye squint deeper I"m sure I saw his mouth move into a smile!!! I went back, and compared this carving from 1:00 to the 5:46 - and my word!!!! what a difference! and then, by the time you deepened the eyes at 7:30, holy smokes! that's amazing! I think the smile folds around the mouth are a GREAT REASON NOT to make every man with a full beard!!! My friend, Merwyn has the deepest smile folds on the planet. He's a life long runner, and has 0.01 % body fat, and makes a great subject to study for carving. wow, just saw you narrow the upper lip, about 10:30, what a remarkable difference that made ... What?? raising the brow ridges raises the smile???? who knew that? Thank you so much for this GREAT lesson.!!!!!

Changing a neutral face to a smiling face was a brilliant lesson! It made it easy to see the differences. Now I get it. ( Now, to practice!) many thanks!

Can you do a lesson on changing a male face to a female? Carving female faces is difficult to do well.
