I’ve been debating on which kind of carving I want to learn. Relief carving with gouges on basswood has been my #1 but watching you do this with the dremel has inspired me to try this as well. I have some small basswood blocks so maybe I’ll give it a try soon. Great video! Thanks!!

thanks for sharing this. After studying the Dremel safety vids for my 8220 I tried my first "Beginner" carve with the 105 attachment, simple "mom" with a butterfly design. Carved for many years with knives but tired of being cut all the time looking forward to knocking off some wood spirits and other characters, this thing is spooky powerful learned quickly NO PRESSURE let the tool do the work. What would take me a MONTH with knives can be done in about 20 minutes this thing is too cool!

@@CarvingFusion yes in trying to carve a Moravian Star I got major resistance against the grain on top - but this time was a very bad injury to my finger as it jumped and cut me twice very deep. I will finish that darn star maybe wearing a guntlet but at last now with your skill guides I can make some amazing works with my Dremel!

Cool video. I am just now starting to watch your stuff. I do wood carvings too, but with a knife. I paint my characters, but I like them to look old and weathered. One trick I do, the last step actually, is a rub the carving down with super fine steel wool. Gives it a nice matte finish and you can adjust how hard you rub to adjust the wear. I ordered some burrs theu your link to kutzall, I will be doing some wood spirits with you!
