I second that!!! I own the TDI version of this car. It is fun to watch your experience on this car. I drove one of these cars in stock form and it was fast! I would love to drive your tuned car. You are right Wizard in your analysis of the finance of fixing the turbo S. But these are rare cars, they are not making them, and I do not see a replacement for them. I also agree that these cars are fast, street legal go carts. Extremely fun, and interesting to look at for some reason. The seats are comfortable, plenty of headroom, great visibility. VW made an affordable Porsche, styled like the old 911. But this car quickly got unofficially branded as a girl car so sales died.☹️ I look forward to your brake upgrade you spoke of. Please keep on doing updates on Wartortle. Having a New Beetle, I find them facinating. Thank you for the videos so far. As for the heater control and dashboard, if you replace the cabin/pollen filter, you'll have to take it apart anyway, and it can be done without causing damage (it's not hard, but is a bit tricky). When I replaced my cabin filter, I found some of the insulation missing from under the dash panel, and a ball of it as part of a (thankfully vacated) mouse nest.

In my 2001 Golf TDI, I lost the AC and heater core at 320K miles. I decided to do both at the same time. It's not the dash that cracks or breaks when it comes out, it's all the little plastic bits that are never the same again. Things like the center console where it screws to the dash parts snap off, as the plastic gets really brittle. It does go back together fine, but there are gaps where there weren't any and little spots where you wish it was back to the way it used to be. On the other hand... I had heat and AC afterwards, so YMMV.
