Has been pretty reliable aside from a couple stuck brake calipers, cooling fan and a window motor. Trunk leaks and is starting to rust out. Tried sealing up different spots with RTV but no luck. I'll probably just drill some weep holes and slap on some high solids paint and call it a day.

The SEM color bond paint actually works pretty well. Getting a match is tricky but I hear some distributors can do a match. I just buy it off the rack. For a dash it will hold up just fine. Clean the part with alcohol or spray away to get the mold release off of it. Hit it with the light scotch brite pad and clean again. Let the part sit in the sun to warm up just a bit then spray light coats. That paint is pretty light on pigment on purpose. Thin light coats and let the vehicle flash off. This preserves any texture. Takes generally three coats but again they are thin. You are gonna think the can did not mix but that’s just how it is. You may need two cans to do a dash cap like that.

I’ve done the spacer and ran without and you gain mid but loose up top. Porting and polish the plenum and lower manifold and you’ll see better gains with no loss. I took mine out and won’t put it back. If you want more torque get a plenum off a vq40de out of a pathfinder and you’ll be happier with the results. I’m rebuilding the same car as a drift car. I laugh when people talk crap bc these are awesome street cars to have fun with. They sound good if you keep a single exit with mufflers. Keep an eye on the front lower control arm bushings and the front compression rod/arm bushing. These tend to fail and can cause clunking and alignment issues. I can tell the front lower shock bushing is collapsing from your vid. I know you like OEM grade, but Nissan doesn’t sell only the bushings. I have a 350Z and went with Whiteline Poly Bushings. No noticeable change in NVH, suspension just feels tighter. Love these pre-2010 Nissans. Great cars, very reliable and affordable when taken care of. Edit: Also, check the differential subframe bushing. The factory bushing is fluid filled and tends to crack and leak. This causes massive slop and movement in the drivetrain. I recommend Whiteline Poly differential bushings. No NVH issues with these.

@robertm59698 ай бұрын
G35s are very reliable for their performance. That being said, common issues to look for are: - excessive oil burn. Piston ring wear can cause blow by. Monitor oil level at 1000mi intervals to calculate oil loss and top up as necessary. As long as you keep it topped up the engine is bulletproof. - sticky clutch pedal. Clutch line location can experience excessive heat. Upgrade to DOT4 clutch fluid and replace every 5 years. - misfiring. Coil packs should be replaced at 70k miles, before recommended interval. Do spark plugs while you're in there. - front suspension bushings. Replace with more robust bushings if handling is sloppy, or if you see signs of excessive camber. - axle "clacking" noise. Grease rear axles with molykote grease. To make your life a lot easier, replace the stock undercarriage cover with an aluminum cover with access panel. Then you just need to remove 2 bolts instead of 12+ to change your oil/filter. Also for a "free" performance upgrade, use an Apexi intake air filter. Dyno results have shown they have as good or better gains as Z tubes on stock engines.

Yes, I know it has the CVT but we change the fluid and stay on top of maintenance. I really like it as a highway cruiser and it gets decent mileage on highway trips.

Hi Wizard!! Like your video content. I had a 2008 FX35 a few years back. The dash started to blister up & look very ugly. But, to my surprise the Infinity service tech saw the dash & told me Infinity warranties the dash at no cost to me. So of course I went for the replacement dash. Ugly dash was gone for good. Yea!! Just wanted to share this experience with you. Hopefully you’ll be able to get yours replaced too. Keep on doing your Wizard things!

I bought a 2006 new and have only put 113K miles on it. Very enjoyable car. It has always been garaged and the paint looks like new. Mechanics always comment on how nice the car is. It isn't worth very much on the used car market now. I think about selling it for something that has newer technology, but it is very hard to find anything as much fun. Love the V6.

Nice! The older G35s and G37s may become future classics since 90% of them have been hooned out of existence. Have a '08 G37 completely stock except for IPL wheels. Going strong 15 years later, daily driver. Will keep and maintain forever.

Nice job 👍🏽 on the daily pick up. I still have my 2003 fully built VQ35 with the coswroth CF plenum (if you G owners remember) and the Greddy 20G turbo kit. The car Dyno 650+ at 15lbs 93pump and over 850+ on 109 fuel on a mustang Dyno. Sadly the car sat a very long time since I’ve moved on to other Europe platforms and owning multiple cars it’s hard to really justify keeping the G. I really don’t want to sell it with the terrible economy we are currently in and the market and bad rep these days with the younger generation destroying the “Infiniti” name brand.

Had an Infiniti with same engine. It was fast for an SUV! I sold it and bought Mrs. Wizard's SL500. Had it do a "Rodeo" today via HP. Mar-Hide, if they're still around, will be a great solution for your dash cover.

I use 350Z wheels with Federal Himalaya snows lol. Spacer doesn’t work with the 7,000rpm rev up without the MREV and a tune! Oh and I keep piling grease on my lower joints lol

Had an 08 G35S sedan manual rear wheel drive, diamond graphite, black interior. It was an ABSOLUTE JOY and pleasure to drive. The Q's just got ruined with lack of manual and no real steering (drive by wire jargon). I put a high flow cat, that was it, natural sound was amplified just a little bit, made it even more amazing. had the VQ35HR.

I've had 3 Infiniti cars and put a lot of miles on them. The Late 90's through about 2013 Infiniti out out some very underrated cars. G35, M35, G37, M37 and FX37 were pretty fun to drive. Above average reliability as well. (Not Lexus reliability but definitely way better than German luxury. (Here's where the German lovers trash me.)

I'm the second owner of my 06 g35 6mt sedan of about 9 years now, I got it from an older woman with 38k miles and it's only up to 136k miles it runs strong I keep up the maintenance religiously, I do drive it kind of hard, it's been a great car never left me stranded and everytime I want to get rid of it I just can't seem to do it...I love it so much I even own a 12 g37 6mt sedan with 68k miles...best car I've owned other than my first car a toyota corolla that I had with 415k miles with 5mt that I sold when I graduated high school.

I commented on one of your past videos about the Expeditions that my father and I own. My father does a lot of driving for work with his 2010 and they also use it for long distance vacations. It's about to hit 375k miles and besides routine maintenance and replacing the timing chain (just as a precaution) about 200k miles ago, it runs and drives like new. It even has the same transmission. He changes the oil and filter every 3k miles religiously. My 2012 only has 47k miles and I'm also maintaining it well. I know you hate these engines, but as long as they're maintained better than what the manual says, they'll last a long time.

I relatively recently bought a 2011 G37x sedan, as I wanted something a little sporty but with more room than I had previously. G37 fit that bill, and as it is an Infiniti, and more importantly the sedan and not the coupe, I managed to get one that wasn't beat to hell and back. I really enjoy the car and I'm glad I bought it. Only thing I've had to do so far is replace a cam timing sensor, but it was easy enough to do it myself at home.

I’ve had two of these and adore them! 145k miles on my current 04 sedan. The only cars I love more (please don’t kill me!) are my E60 and E90 BMWs with the N.A. N52 motor. I don’t think I’ll ever get rid of these three cars.❤
@revvolutions8 ай бұрын
How's the reliability compare, n52 vs vq?
@jaymum238 ай бұрын
@@revvolutions Both are excellent. I’ve taken a few VQs to 200k miles and my highest N52 right now sits at 175k. I’ve never been stranded or seen a major failure. Both burn a little bit of oil with age but nothing major. Both tend to have minor cooling system issues and need valve cover gaskets every 60-100k miles. The N52 is noticeably more durable than the M54 I had in an 01 525i, and that engine was itself well-behaved. I actually see more check engine lights with the VQ thanks to its tissue paper sensors (lol). It’s a BMW stereotype but I rarely see that light on my N52s. Performance wise the VQ is the torque monster of the two. Part of this is gearing, but it does also have a larger displacement. Feels more like a V8 around town at low RPMs. The N52 pulls stronger at freeway speeds especially over 80mph. Both sound great but the N52 is smoother and more pleasant at higher revs. Fuel economy is the biggest surprise- I can get maybe 25 mpg highway with the VQ, but will regularly see 30-35 highway in the N52 cars. Smaller displacement, newer design plus and extra gear really pay dividends there.

Fantastic. Gotta love rear wheel drive. Now that there’s more air going in after the intake plenum mod, you’ll have to mufflers off to get the exhaust out. Lol

Use SEM vinyl dye to paint the dash cover. Be sure to also use the SEM prep before painting, it softens the plastic a bit to give the vinyl dye something to grab on to.

I loved that they made a 4 door G35 with a manual.
@stephenmoxley30048 ай бұрын
Great video, Wizard. With regard to the dash panel, you need to paint it to match the interior. Take the car to a body shop supply store and have them match the interior color with paint chips. They can then mix up the color and put it in a spray can. They have the satin finish paint that will work with plastic. I just did this on one of my cars and the paint was a perfect match. Keep up the great work.

You're right, most have been Riced/Raced/Wrecked. I'm the original owner of my 05 G35 6 speed Manual transmission.with the Rev Up Motor . I will never sell it and will be passed down to my oldest son..As time goes on, you'll find most of the bushings will have to be replaced. The motor is bulletproof as long as the oil has been changed in a timely manner. This is a very enjoyable car that will not breakdown but instead wear down. The exhaust muffler will eventually start rusting to the point it needs replacing. Tanabe Medallion is what I recommend. Very high quality at an affordable price. I put a dash cover from Cover Craft to cover the cracked dash. Recommend Mevotech Supreme for your ball joints and control arms. White line for your rear differential bushing. This car will give you loads of smiles while driving the miles.😊

I had one of those 2006 6MT. I loved that car almost as much as the 21 Miata that I'm driving right now. The 6MT was good because you could plan your shifts for maximum noise. Short shifting into second at low speed made a pretty sweet growl

How well can they drive? Even when new they had a terrible ride and driving them is not especially engaging. They were noisy, the interior is very low quality, filled with rattles and cracked bits of plastic. Its got 300+ hp so slow it wont be even if it looses half its power. I cant imagine any functional car driving any worse than that car, even if you dump a million miles into it.

I love our G35 sedan, it’s RWD and automatic but does great in the WI winter with snow tires, and the previous owner took great care of it! Has 220k and doesn’t burn a drop of oil. Needs some front suspension parts and valve cover gaskets (started weeping recently) but other than that it’s been a better car than we expected. We were looking for an M35x but the G sedan has plenty of room and the winter tires worked way better than anticipated 🤙🏼
