Rental a Peugeot 208 recently during a visit to the UK...there is a lot to like in the 208 package, even if the car I had was a lower-level spec with a petrol engine. Styling is great, and it was a comfortable motorway cruiser with one of the slickest shifters I've ever had in car like this. It made driving this car fun and easy. It was composed on A and B roads, the ride quality was quite good I thought, and fuel economy was acceptable, if not decent. I had no passengers, so can't comment on back seat space but it did seem a bit tight back there, and the shape of the door meant getting in and out wouldn't be easy for larger kids or adults. The dashboard was okay, a nice pleasing shape but I got the impression Peugeot went for form over function. No mention of the Quartic steering wheel? I didn't think it was necessary and it actually hindered the view of the gauges, but at least it was solid and chunky. I felt that minor controls and switches took an annoying fraction of a second too long to respond - sounds like a minor criticism but it meant there wasn't a good tactile response and I didn't get used to it despite spending a few days with the car. Also, I didn't like having to go into a menu on the screen to change the temperature or fan setting...surely a couple more dials and switches wouldn't mess up the clean fascia too much, would it?? Overall though, this was a pretty nice car and surely would be worth checking out and comparing to a VW Polo if in the market for this type of vehicle.

@@MG-ce3dx Obviously he means it's the best overall package available right now, bar the Clio there isn't a B-segment that can touch it in terms of interior built quality and technology without an insane price-tag. It makes Vw trio seem instantly outdated, with the A1 and Mini seemingly looking more overpriced then ever. Fact is allot of people tend to agree since it also happens to be nominated for Car of the year alongside it's rival the Clio. Which themselves are the first B-segment cars to be nominated after more then 10 years. Just try stick to the facts instead of needlessly spouting foul language but no facts or arguments. If you can't take it beeing a great car for majority of people shopping in this class. SIMPLY don't watch it, don't buy it, and don't comment 🤣

Doing some great car reviews again Mat, well done. Love the look of this car but in Australia Peugeot’s don’t tend to hold up to our roads and conditions so they have a very poor following. The result of this is a bad reputation and about the same retained value as a Mc Happy Meal.

Peugeot has really taken a step forward recently. Got to drive a year or two old 308SW diesel with the new Aisin 8-speed and it was SO good. Only thing being, design-wise there is still too much going on in the interior across all the models for my personal tastes.

I used to hate Peugeot's, I saw them as cars for people who gave up and don't care about cars... I was recently given a dusty beaten up 308 hdi and dear god is it a sleeper, the turbo lag is real but when it kicks in you can outrun pretty much anything, it's a shame it's like driving a speed boat around our British roads. Still I love this car and will be sad to get rid. Anyway this car in review it looks hot and I suppose that kills the joys of a sleeper which is a shame but I am glad Peugeot have finally decided to make good cars on purpose again.

I always loved Peugeot's design and good comfortable driving experience. Yes, they are not the most reliable and they are having electrical issues but it's a car that you are getting connected to and it's well worth it. also i really like the front visibility with big windscreen in all peugeot cars especially in the older ones unlike my aunt's 2012 ford focus, and their seats are Lovely. the cars that my parents had were Peugeot 306 1998, 307 luxury 2004, and now 308 base 2010 in series. my favorite one was the 307, I miss it so much🙁

This is only a restyle of the previous model 208. They seem to be trying to make it look like an SUV with the silly bits around the wheels. I prefer the old style which is a very tall hatch but looks like a car rather than a bus. We have a 2013 model 208 and it has been 100% fantatstic. Best by far with the diesel engine, really nippy and far better at motorway speed than the screaming petrol model. Will easily do 60mpg + too. Little steering wheel is great, you are supposed to set it low and look over it to the dials. Drives like a go cart- great fun. Had ours for 5 years (bought at 3 years old) and passed all mots and only thing broken is the washer motor. Some have auto parking which you will not use but ours has a pan roof which is a fantastic option if you can find one. Body, seats and all the switches stand up well, ours still looks showroom new inside. Cannot fault them.
