yes , i remenber travelling with my parents and wasn´t that conforstable ,only when having citroens that were the most confortable for passengers or the now called E-class from Mercedes or S-class from the 60´s,my first car was a Mercedes 280S from 1969 after having my driver´s permit ,before i had 3 cars but i used to prefer motorcycles, normally very heavy ,even with 125 CC´s engine one would have dificulties to be stoped due to it´s weight this refering to a Yamaha when the display that was very complete compared to other cheap brands at the time, with the display or gages atatched to the front light metal casing it made part of the design i wasn´t that strong when 12 years old ,but at the time my favorite car was a Fiat sport abarth ,very low to the ground and tiny using the same engine as the fiat 500, 600, 850 with i think 40 h.p. at the most this because it was a sportive tiny car the road cars with the same engine had a diferent carburator

These things are very popular among rich people in Asia over luxury SUV's or sedans. The reason is obvious. Unlike trying to shoehorn enough space for proper luxury features into a tiny frame, a minivan has all the space you need to be properly relaxed on the road without ever feeling cramped. They're the best.

These sort of cars are more for big Asian cities where the roads are flat, you deal with jams, and it goes from building lobbies to lobbies. Not so much for back roads and European countryside's or cross continental drives. It's main use is for business. The key difference why these cars are eroding the sales of S Class or 7 series is the way you walk into the car and walk out. Much easier and more dignified. That being said, these form of vehicle is best electrified fully. Quieter, faster, smoother.

True. But it is easier (and probably cheaper)to get a very comfortable ride in a sedan than a "van", mainly for the "big box" of a van. But get some air or hydraulic suspension on it and its another world. You really cant beat the sheer size of the van though. So roomy.

Minivans are associated with trips of pensioners and are more interesting as a city toilet. Another thing is that in limousines there is no shortage of space either, and the president is unlikely to travel with a 5-seat delegation. Besides, luxury is not only space, but also the engine, and here we have a crappy 4-cylinder. And all for a lot of money

@@SDav21 wait, the side door windows on the V-class won't come down?!?!? Geez I took that for granted..... (Both the Alphard 1st gen (2003) I previously own and the Vellfire (2009) I'm driving now are able to open the windows) There are more engines for the Alphards and Vellfires (the siblings of LM), a 2.4T, 2.5 hybrid and a 2.5 without hybrid. As an Asian I cannot emphasise enough how much we hate diesel engines. The rattling sound automatically links to a cheap car in Asian mind (something like a Ford transit). With a lot of underground carparks in Asia, the "cheap" engine noise will be heard from a long way, which you definitely don't want. First class seats with a transit noise just doesn't add up in our mind.
@SDav21
@SDav21 9 ай бұрын
@@Horace20101 Actually you don't hear that rattling sound on 6 or 8 cylinder diesels. Have you heard the new Mazda CX60's inline 6 3.3 litre diesel? It's so smooth and refined. 6 cylinder diesels sound amazing. 4 cylinder diesels are rattly but I like it sometimes because it sounds strong. Also, for me, the droning sound of a hybrid when it accelerates feels less like luxury and sounds more cheap to me. But I think a 6 cylinder diesel would do wonder here. And Toyota's 2.0 d4d in the previous Gen corolla was so nice and quiet even the 2.2 d4d in the Rav4. It would've suited this car so well because it has the torque to pull it. I absolutely love diesels especially the new modern ones. So much torque, great for towing, light on fuel and they sound strong.

LM, Alpard & Vellfire, South east Asia's first choice when it comes to luxury cars, even here in Thailand with the 300% import tax you can see them every where, and with a super high demand right now the waiting list is over 1 year minimum even for gray imports and in the second hand market they're still super expensive even for a very high mileage 5-6 year old example because here they're only depreciating around 6-7% per year

Those who drive these kinds of cars usually have drivers. And most of the road bullies who drive this type were the drivers and not the owner. If you notice every time this vehicle drives like crazy, it's always one person in the car. And that's the driver. Which is supposed to take care of the car, not race on it.

Sitting in the cramped back seat of an S-Class or 7-Series, where you can't even stretch your legs, doesn’t really help you recover from fatigue and feel truly rejuvenated. But the back seat of the LM revitalizes him. It's no wonder that energetic and hardworking Asian CEOs, who work far more than their Western counterparts, choose the LM. However, no matter how much money you have, you’ll have to wait over a year to get one.

To think that the LM started off from the JDM-only alphard, but I suppose Toyota internationalized the Alphard as there were too many grey-exports. I now live in Septic land, and because we have a family of 5 and growing, our "family" car has been a Sienna (which I know you can't get back home). We have the top trim, but it has always lacked that *something*. To someone who has driven the Sienna almost exclusively whilst being in the States, honestly, I am surprised it has taken Toyota this long to launch this. Unfortunately, it will probably take about 2-300k miles more on my Sienna until I can justify and upgrade to this. These things are literally indestructible (I had my FIL's Sienna from the 90's that had 350k miles on it and it just wouldn't die). Well done, Toyota, looks like I will be staying with you.

It's not based on the RX, it's an evolution of the Toyota Alphard. We have both, and they're completely different - it would be impossible to fit the RX chassis under the Alphard. The only similarity between the RX and the (JDM) Alphard is the wonderful 3.5-litre V6 engine, which drives brilliantly, even as front-wheel-drive. JDM cars are a bargain, and you can even get this seat configuration - it's called the "Royal Lounge". Highly recommended!
