The Mazda 6 is such an underrated family sedan, it’s the best car I’ve owned!
@BeesonsCars5 жыл бұрын
Every time I see the Mazda 6 I’m blown away by it’s interior. It’s absolutely a league above its competitors. If Mazda made a luxury brand and vehicle (like their old cosmos brand) now it would be insane. Their attention to detail and styling is just so unique for the price of these cars. It really feels like a luxury car and looks like one too.
@sewj8046 Жыл бұрын
I agree. One of the best-looking Interiors of a car I've owned was a 1994 Mazda 929. Chrome trim with powder blue leather interior. I obtained it with 100,000 miles in 2000 and traded it at 284,000 miles in 2007. The car looked and still ran half its age with the only major repairs being the replacement of the original radiator, original starter, and original front shock absorbers.

Japanese BMW would be Honda, but Mazda would be like Volvo back in the days. Volvo used to be so revolutionary in terms of technology and safety, and I think Mazda is bringing it on today. They always bring features and technology that wouldn't exist in other cars with the same price. They seem to be wanting to be more premium than most cars, but still much more affordable than luxury cars.

@Olivier Lacaille I bought a used Mazda2 (built 2013), 1.3 MZR, 75HP, 70.000km driven, about 2 years ago. It's at 180.000km now. And I can confirm, it's an extremely reliable car. I drive 240km on the german Autobahn, every day and on full throttle all the time. With the 75hp engine it goes about 170km/h, downhill 190km/h at about 5500 RPM in 5th gear. But unless you're german that won't matter anyway. So yea, that kinda speed and the high revs are pretty stressfull for all components and lead to very high wear. Still no broken parts or anything, like absolutely nothing. The engine is really nice and smooth to drive, since it doesn't have a turbo. Didn't make any problems yet. Even with only 75hp it's a lot of fun. The manual transmission is perfect for most situations, shifting is like in the MX-5, very direct. I also consider buying a new Mazda6 some time. Especially because of the turboless engines, cause they are so much nicer to drive. Sorry if the kilometers and km/h confuse you.
@aleksandaraleksic40675 жыл бұрын
@Olivier Lacaille My uncle has Mazdas for almost 30 years, five of them. Never had any malfunction, breakdown or anything but regular servicing. Great cars, with some spirit you won't find in VW or Audi. It is almost like marriage of VW's reliability and Alfa Romeo's passion. And nothing less premium than VW !
@FrejrNA5 жыл бұрын
@AmnesiaOnAPoney Absolutely agree, it's really nimble. Fast driving in the city, corners or curvy roads are a damn lot of fun. That 1.3 MZR is a pretty traditional petrol engine - no turbocharger and manifold injection. That of course means that it only really got it's power at high RPMs. I think at 3500 max torque, at 6000 max HP. But that's what makes it so much fun. When you shift down to get above 3000 RPM it's super responsive, you don't have to wait for a turbo to power up. Engine sound is pretty damn sweet as well, something you don't get with direct injection anymore. The engine in combination with the very sporty and direct steering and sporty suspension is just way more fun than you would expect from such a car. And yea, there isn't really anything fast about the 75HP and 119Nm. Quick enough I'd say, but you gotta shift down to accelerate properly. Don't expect to get anywhere when going full throttle in 5th gear at 1500 RPM. When I want that I got a 3 liter V6 Diesel to drive. Much less sporty car, but much more powerful and faster obviously. The engines in the new models are all 1.5l, the 75 HP one therefore has more torque than the 75 HP 1.3 MZR. So should be a bit more powerful at lower RPMs, not much though I'd say. They also have direct injection, so the traditional petrol engine feel and sound might be a bit diminished.

The Mazda automatic IS one of the better automatics. Only someone comparing nothing but the number of gears would say different. I suppose it's because the 6 is more squarely aimed at the Insignia and Mondeo, ie the large family car bracket. In that sector, the hatchback format is most popular, because people want an everyday practical workhorse that's good for the IKEA run. The 3 Series/A4 are in the executive saloon bracket, which is a notch above, and family practicality is not as much of a priority.

I work in IT and can say that at least 95% of people are too stupid to digitalize their CDs :D How much does it cost the manufacturer to put one in? 10 bucks? I still have a real iPod with 120 GB disk and need an AUX connection.

SeppiMaulwurf more than 10 bucks, they literally have to design the dashboard to fit a CD player and then they have to try to play with the design so it doesn’t look like it’s from 2001. Too much work for people stuck in the past

CD Players are inefficient and are a thing of the past. Almost everyone nowadays uses USB drives or just plugs their phone in via AUX, USB or just use Bluetooth. They can't afford to waste their money on developing old technology into their new cars, cause almost nobody will use them.

I have to admit a lot of beautiful soft fake leather where germans use soft plastics, but I'm not sure if this material in the Mazda will stay nice for very long. It may not age well (hard to clean, influence of heat and cold, dampness?). Let's wait.

As a long term happy mazda owner here is some factual advice: Make your timing chain Immortal!!! Let it run for about 1 minute before driving for the first start of the day. After that 15 sec warm-up. 90mph less than 1 HR at a time 100 mph plus, no more than a few minutes Oil change every 4k first 5 years, 3k after that. Transmission: Don't do anything for 60k miles. Then drain and fill with mazda fluid ONLY every 30k or less after that. At 200k drop pan and change filter if applicable. Brakes: The brakes are good but do not wear down well. Severely worn inside pads destroy the brake pistons. I found autozone has really good brake pads, duralast max, the best ones have perfect hardware and great grab. Coolant stays clean so be sure it still works in cold weather, it may look great for 150k miles but eventually it starts to freeze. Hvac controls are amaizing, way better than gm. Hard driving wears rear brakes fast. Dsc is rear braking differential system....and it works really good, at least for 10 years now. All in all the only issues i had with my mazda so far over 10 years is as follows: using the wrong brake pads, picky about brake pads. Worn motor mounts, tiny valve cover seepage. Art, don't get the 2.5.....thats the car i am explaining. Get the 2.5, great engine.

@@stephenmurray8559 the 6 is a heavy car, that 4 will wear out fast if driven hard. The vvt is not very strong and kind of a pia to fix. The motor mounts kinda weak too. Not a bad car but high speed driving wears them pretty bad since they are not tuned down like a honda or toyota. You get most of the power the engine can make.

With recent announcements of expansion of the ulez I have had to start planning ahead. Just discovered these hidden gems, i knew mazda cars were good but just never realised how good until I started my research recently. Because most of my daily commute is on the motorway a diesel (at least for the next 7-8 years) is the obvious choice. Not a big fan of hybrids or electrics (until I have to!) Very seriously considering these cars as my next car. I was getting pulled into thinking I needed one of the big germen branded cars. But these mazdas are fanatastic. Your getting excellent car with all the extras for ur money on the used market. A real bang for your buck.

I drive the 194hp version, it is the one to get, its not thirsty as this dude states, if you drive like a normal person expect 6,5 to 7,8 L per 100km. Quality is mostly up there with bmw, in some instances even better, only very high spec audi or bmw touch this thing. It is really a shame they discontinued it

Matt, what are you talking about, Mazdas automatic trans. is one of the best out there. Almost every single review on youtube says so.. are they all lying?
@paulwest62625 жыл бұрын
They think more gears means a better box, Honda has a 10 and mazda a 6 gear auto, and came back with the same figures with Honda 2.0 v tech and Mazdas 2.5 non turbo. / m.p.g and 0 to 60 m.p.h both very close results. The aisian torque converter box in mazda is proven to. be refined and reliable and used by Toyota for ages, so why fix something and risk ruining some thing if there's nothing wrong with it. As for a c.d player, people still use c.d s and they aren't really bulky so why drop them.
@comments73354 жыл бұрын
Aisin's gearbox is more durable and probably the best. Mazda 6 speeder is just ok. Nothing to shout about. BTW, not all reviewers says that. You're one of them, of course.

Happy to see a Mazda get the CarWow treatment. I personally own a 2018 Signature with the Turbo engine. Compared it against all German and Japanese (and Alfa Guilia) competition and ultimately felt that the 6 gave me 90% of what the other cars offered but with better reliability and insurance costs. Camry and Accord are UGLY IMO and feel cheaper. Same price but lower tier feel. I also respect Mazda corporate philosophy and engineering capability. Very creative engineers IMO. I also felt the handling and mechanical grip wasn't great with the factory Falken tires. Once I swapped out for Yokohama's the handling improved immensely. Now it feels more agile and tossable for a large car. Which tires were on your test car? And Matt has reviewed Mazdas, when he was hosting that "other" car channel. BTW, I am 6'3 and fit perfectly in the 6.
