Are you sure, that button should do the same thing for same amount of time no matter what speed you use it at, the limiter should only be time so it dont heat up inverter, motor and cables to much. And this feature should be more needed at a take over than during launch since the original 789 is enough to make the tire slip below 30mph. Porsche themself say that it produce 1019HP in up to 10Sec bursts but no mention that it need to be in launch control.

it does, and massivly too - plaid owner here. at 100 percent you are pulling probebly around 1050hp at any speed. At below 70 percent you start noticing the power dropping off at the higher speeds. At below 50 percent im guessing you might be getting less than 60-70 percent of max power at higher speeds. At low speeds its pretty unnoticable above 30 percent.

I own the e-tron GT (1st gen) and in over 50.000 km on the Autobahn I never felt too slow, so once I'll upgrade I will go for the RS version, but I will not go for the performance. Of course it is great fun to watch a comparison like that, but in real life you will be happy with the performance of each car and at the end I pick the most beautiful one.

It is absolutely amazing that these cars are doing low 10 second 1/4 mile times on a wet track side by side like that. If you tried that with 3 1,000+ HP RWD cars you would be risking it all. Then they also did stops from 100 mph on that same wet track. The ability to get traction in any conditions really sets electric cars apart from what ICE cars can do.

@@Teejaay1 No, what helps is that EVs have infinitely better power control. There are only a few ways to control the power than an ICE engine makes, and it's all slow. Whereas an EV is literally just flowing current to the motors, thus you can make adjustments that are as fast as the computers that read and react. In fact, this means that as computing power gets better, EV traction control will get even better.

Electric motor performance in both 0-60 and top speed cannot be optimised as rotor rpm will be exceeded in the top speed if trying to maintain the 0-60 limits hence the need for a multi speed gearbox / clutch unless you have rocket company on hand where carbon over wrapping manufacturing techniques allow the design of electric motor rotors to withstand centripetal forces outside of conventional limits thus raising the rpm with little expansion / reduced chances of explosion in which case you can use 3 motors do away with the differential allowing finite torque vectoring to enhance handling, reduce weight, dispense with any additional gearbox / clutch / complexity / cost / failure modes and maintain full power across the full speed envelope. "The best gearbox is no gearbox". Pretty much why the Legacy car industry and in particular the German car industry is doomed, engineering requires more innovation NOT more of the same.

@@garypetabread864 I watched hundreds of races on Carwow and always in important races two wins decided. Here there was a change of places in two races why were there more races? The final race on wet ground was won by centimeters by Porsche mainly because Yanni had a worse track. Because Mat decided that it was not enough he did another race on dry ground being convinced that Porsche always has more horsepower and will be better on dry surface. He talks about it at 4:46. Later he tries to make fun of Tesla in braking tests which also fails. At the end he laughs at Tesla saying that you have to wait for the battery (16:23) and only then Tesla will beat Porsche. It's a pity he didn't mention that in rolling race it doesn't matter because Porsche has attack mode only for 10 seconds. Everyone knows that Mat is a Porsche fan. Besides he bought GT3 RS and probably only because he is the host of Carwow channel. His previous Porsche was some old insignificant model.

Never got the hate tbh. a stock plaid stops from 60mph in 104' with iron rotors. For sedans even performance ones anything under 120' is considered class leading smh. And the new m3p without ceramics can do 99' stops from 60mph on sticky track's. Even hagerty showed the new update proves tesla brake fade is a myth as the did 15min lap sessions around willow Springs and it was the tires that gave up ground first!

@@almond7795 Well carwow doesn't test as thoroughly as they should and in the EV tests they often don't disclose SoC. You are right though about previous Plaid times on this channel AND even those were way off from 9.3-9.2 usual times due mostly to crappy testing surface. However those times were in different conditions. Now the surface was probably way colder (winter) and damp to full wet races which also adds a fuckton of lack of grip. As for the Weissach, while indeed is the better Turbo GT, that's not a sedan anymore because even though it carries for whatever reason the same 4 door layout as the normal GT, Porsche couldn't be bothered to dump the rear doors' functionality and save more weight (cuz they really needed it) but hey look at expensive carbon buckets and CCBs🤑

Track pack (extra cost) used to have carbon ceramic rotors, and you could get lightweight wheels and higher spec tires. That's no longer available on the website, you only get performance pads with the plaid version now.

Because it really doesn't. If you look up ANY other video, the Taycan GT plummets the Plaid in every metric across the board. Go watch the U-Drag race and watch the Taycan not only beat it both down and back, but makes the Plaid look like a challenger with how boat-like it turns compared to the Porsche. The Plaid is still the cheapest electric car to go that fast, but its not the fastest anymore, except on Carwow for some reason.
