The petrol cover switch is inside is because in alot of countries, especially Asia, there are petrol attendants that pump petrol for you. As for the plug for the Hybrid, its likely you will plug it yourself in your home hence you open from the outside.

@carwow Regarding the fuel filler cap: on all plugin hybrids you have to press a button first. That is because they try to vacuum the fuel tank and this vacuum has to be released before opening. @@funkyhouseman I do not know those exact models, but still it is hard to believe that. At first, there no reasons to make extra steps on hybrids, why!? European cars have it connected to central locking system and opening doors, opens also fuel flap.

Regarding needing a button to open the petrol cap: In order not to have fuel evaporate into the atmosphere, a lot of PHEVs have pressurised petrol tanks (only slightly above atmospheric pressure). More needed in PHEVs because petrol more likely to sit there unused for ages and traditional techniques to deal with this in ICE cars require the engine to run more regularly. The button depressurises the tank before unlocking.

The tax advantages are real, but even disregarding that, plug-in hybrids are not pointless at all for a very large group of car users. And I'm one of them. Most days I do no more than 20 miles just locally, and then every couple of weeks I am likely to do a 500 mile round trip. With a plug-in hybrid, I will have no significant fuel cost in everyday use, and no need to wake the petrol engine for a lot of cold-start short local runs. Yet I will also have no range anxiety or charging delays on the long trips. For someone who wants one car to do it all, something like this is a very attractive proposition.
@ms-jl6dl3 жыл бұрын
Well they're pointless from the perspective of "doing something for the environment". Only that. And can only be used by people who own homes with garages,for the rest of us living in the city buildings (ca.60%) this is overpriced, useless ,virtue-signaling tool of the dimwits.

These headlights will have the blade scan technology, it’s actually pretty amazing. But yes you’re right the headlights are the triple led headlight system where it can automatically un illuminate any high beam. It can turn of the middle high beams if there’s a car in front or turn off the right/left side high beams for opposite incoming cars.

The fuel filler cap has a button because its a safety feature. Look it up, you won't be disappointed at the attention to detail that Lexus/ Toyota put into small things like that.
@Fbinitie Жыл бұрын
The fuel caps are different because people try to steal petrol out of cars circa the fuel crisis last year. If your fuel gauge could be opened externally you would be a big target for theft.

the filler cap opening versus the electric is actually very smart. You open the filler because a gas station operator fills it up for you, while you stay in the car. The electric charging, you do yourself from outside...

@@vinayshsureshram277 I probably prefer the 350h as well but the non fsport. @@rickylin6009 the NX350h will come in a 2wd and you will only need to get an AWD to get Enhancement Packs eg sunroof etc. Luckily the HUD comes standard on the Sports Luxury. i didn't find the petrol fuel lock annoying, i think its a good feature, someone can steal petrol or maybe can put something in the tank like sugar, which causes issues. whereas with electric there is less chance of sabotaging it. (or i lack the imagination that someone can severely sabotage the charging port too 😉).

Have to disagree at 21:10. If your daily routine only involves around 40 miles of driving and you want to drive electric, the net result is you’ve done all your weeks driving emissions-free as you would have in a full EV. If you typically do 5k miles in a year, that’s a huge reduction in petrol over the course of a year. Maybe you do a few road trips in hybrid mode, and even then you would maybe have used 500 miles worth of fuel in a year. People buying it just for tax benefits may not use it this way, but for people who want to actually drive electric and can charge at home this is a serious option.
@jonahfastre3 жыл бұрын
You can’t open the fuel door without pushing a button, because for the hybrid system and emissions, the tank is pressurized and the car has to know when to release the pressure

The reason the fuel filler cover is realised from inside the vehicle is to make the fuel cap less accessible to a casual fuel thief. The cover on the other side for the charging point is externally operable is because you cannot steal electricity. Simple.

The wabble in the centre console is because the model you tested is preproduction. Production models of the Lexus NX are bolted together tightly as you would expect from a lexus
@danieldautry93192 жыл бұрын
One thing you have to know with Lexus: they never do sth by accident. I guess that the wobble on the center console is intentionally. If you put it in too tight, it’ll loosen over the time and will start to make noises whereas if you have a bit of controlled play it’ll never make any noises as if in eg BMWs
