I have driven for the fields a Volkswagen Taro now last three years we got a ford ranger 2011 also driven sometimes an old mercedes "semi truck" and the not for work car a Volkswagen Passat 2004 I think maybe it was 2005. @@user-tl4sq8tk1d I'm not trying to act tough with a hyundai lol. Hyundai hasn't updated the G4GC engine transmission since 2003. So it's very old for a 2010. What I'm confused about is why would the power steering light come on if he missed a gear? Never heard of that in any car.

@Monkiimagic
@Monkiimagic 3 жыл бұрын
@T D Drag races are bias towards AWD cars and FWD just can't compete, especially in the wet. In a rolling start (in the dry) the CTR would win. Check the Nürburgring times... the CTR is much quicker than the Yaris GR, it laps 12 seconds quicker...that's quite a difference but I still really like the Yaris GR, it's a cracking car.
@EliteGi
@EliteGi 3 жыл бұрын
@T D Roundabouts? What about corners? I mean it's horses for courses, if you rather a small nimble car then it's the Yaris obviously. If you rather a larger, more practical car then it's the Honda.
@confounded_feline
@confounded_feline 3 жыл бұрын
@@Monkiimagic As the commenter's previous point alludes to they're two different beasts that excel in their own areas. Either could trounce the other given the conditions so it depends on what you value. No doubt it'll suffer in the rolling races, being geared for rallying the final drive suffers and so it loses it's puff in higher speeds. Still impressive for what it is and how close it still was. It is a cracking car and so is the CTR, they're really top class. I think on the track any circuit that can avail of performance in the 60-120+ range will cede advantage to higher powered rivals. That said, one journo made a point on its 'off-the-line' party trick which is fun however you cut it with it's 0-30 being 1.48s. Faster than an Audi TT RS, Ferrari 488, Lambo Urus, Honda NSX, McLaren 570 and any model 3. I don't know the veracity of these claims since they're far-fetched, where the data is from and under what conditions. It's quite a thing say but even if it was all false and in striking distance - and it is unholily rapid off the line for what it is. Here's the article if interested: www.topgear.com/car-news/best-2020/2020s-best-hot-hatches-which-fastest-all

Stock 2002 US model Subaru WRX’s we’re running high 13 second quarter mile times almost 20 years ago and cost 26k USD with tax out the door (sticker price). As of today’s date, the Yaris appears to cost close to 48k USD with tax. Clearly not available in US, but if it were, and as cool as I think it is, think I’d pass on it at that price tag.

This is no test of these two , they are both about corners not drag races - but- 4WD is a big advantage in standing. starts and wet conditions. But despite the hype the regular model Type R is every bit as good to drive as the Yaris , a fabulous chassis, superb damping, gearchange, steering and brakes. Its also roomy and practical , much more so than the Yaris which is a toy by comparison. No reason to think the new FL1 Type R is not going to be at least as good , probably better so good luck Toyota - The Civic was the boss right to the end , AMG, VW, Renault, Cupra , Hyundai N, - all second best to the mighty Honda,

Weird comment to make saying a Type R is overrated really and I like how you covered your back pretty quickly saying the GR isn't a track car its a 'HoMoLgAtIoN rAlLy CaR' cause we all know the (not a track or 4wd car) type R smashes the GR (TRACK PACK) round any track. Love the yaris, its what we need in the car world atm but saying the TypeR is over rated is a deluded comment.

with a good 12V battery it would not matter how low the RPM was. If that was the case every yahoo that drove a manual would get messages at some point. Either a software glitch or hardware issue.

Sounds plausible. There is quite a fine line between over revving the Yaris or stalling it. Due to three cylinders and a light flywheel perhaps 🤔

Yeah I have a GR Yaris coming next year and it being faster than a Type R Civic in the dry from a standing start is not going to happen, it also would have faired worse on the rolling starts as well since the AWD helped out with traction massively. I would be interested to see the pair of them go through a tight twisty course though.

The conditions should have played to the Yaris's strengths, its a rally homologation car. How would the drag races have played out on a dry track, or a gravel road? Looking forward to seeing a Yaris GR on the road, it is less polarising than the CTR.

They all seem to have different approaches to how they pipe in the sound these car manufacturers, it would be interesting to know what Toyota do. I've seen a video with a back to back comparison with someone who has launched with it on and launched again disabled. It's surprisingly very similar, I'd say it honestly retains much of the same character but there's a lot of added bass and a thickening of the sound. I went into it expecting less.

So what this proves is that 320ps vs around 258/260ps whatever the GR Yaris has makes very little difference. The Yaris weighs about 100kg less, has 1 fewer cylinder and smaller engine and still manages. I call that a victory for something that just popped out
