I just ordered this car 1 month ago, it’ll be my first car. For roundabout 32k $ I think it’s totally worth it. Almost completely specced out, 360 degree camera, Navigation package, Stage 1 auto drive, the list goes on. Comparing to what you get for double the amount when purchasing let’s say a BMW or Mercedes, you get way better value for money. Now I know the cameras are better on a BMW or whatever, but I mean you kinda get what you pay for, and I don’t need a 1080p camera for orientation, a 720p maxes the job just as good. Lets not forget that a 360° camera option costs 3x as much as it does on a Renault.

Matt I have had 2 Renaults of late - both clios RS line and now esprit alpine - the radio controls on the separate stalk are far more user friendly and logical once you start to use them - I never need to take my eyes off the road to adjust radio volume - think that is far safer than any other cars I have had
@E2rd1994
@E2rd1994 6 ай бұрын
Why majority of automotive journalists keep complaining about these radio levers in french cars? Just do ANY UX research and you will actually find out IT IS BETTER than any controls placed on the steering wheel. Why? Because they simply don't move, meaning you can easily find them in the same place every single time, e.g. when you need to go on reverse and want to turn down the radio (to see better 😛 ... or simply, to focus or hear the parking sensors). Switched from french to japanese car some time ago and actually am missing A LOT radio control as a lever.

Yes, it is indeed all about UX. And it is beyond comprehension that this hasn't become some sort of standard by now. Probably most manufacturers think most people are too stupid to use it. But it is the easiest and safest way to control the audio. To all people that think this is nonsense: you'd be amazed how quickly you get used to it. I've had it on a Renault more than 20 years ago and I've been missing it ever since.

Once your hand gets used to the position of the controls, they are much more practical and faster to use. I've just bought one - a hybrid in Esprit Alpine trim. First surprise the Hybrid does feel surprisingly quick. Also it seems to handle pretty well. The ride is a bit odd in that generally it seems good but occasionally quite fiddly. Yes it is in fact a really nice car to drive it looks great and the finish seems pretty good. This fits in fairly well with the road test -except most people buy a hybrid for the fuel economy and this seems a bit underplayed in the test. The official figure of over 60 mpg is quite an achievement that almost matches the Toyota Yaris but with better performance.

Complaining about low-res camera on the Renault... What about the resolution of your camera on the back of the X5 at 19:22? But good review. It seems like Renault have produced a good product that from a design perspective will stand the test of time.

The wire harness is the reason why they don't move the fuse box. They can't be bothered to create a separate wire harness for RHD n LHD

Why should they change the fusebox location? 99.9 percent of the cars will be sold left side steering wheel configured anyways.

That's fair, they can't justify the extra cost. Wonder if cars like are cheaper in right hand drive countries to make up for the inconvenience,especially the bonnet release that's on the passenger side.

The fidgety ride and road noise is probably down to the over sized wheels and resultant ultra low profile tires. They will hit economy as well by a few mpg.

Thank You Renault for keeping the classic design of interior including instrument cluster and Infotainment system and not the spaceship panels like Merc and BMW

I actually like it quite much... too much Google for my taste in it (data protection is very bad with that kind of entertainment system) but other than that it is great. Isn't there an auto gas version in the UK? It should be at 100 PS more or less the 90 PS motor with Auto gas added at the factory.

When I see so many Ford Pumas around, I wonder why their owners went for that instead of the Captur which looks so much better, has a far nicer and higher quality interior and is probably more reliable too.

The rear window on hatchbacks should be shaped so that you can clip the rear cover into the recess, so you can still have privacy but it gets it out of the way.

We happened to rent a Renault Capture on holidays in the south of France & were quite impressed. Did not try the hybrid though. What’s about the Symbioz? Would be interested if you could test it.

no roof handle for passengers - this was a no-go for me when looking for a new car... and very small interior space... i choose a skoda karoq instead and i am very happy with the choice for a small family car... skoda is very spacious inside and very practical without useless fancy features

The reason why the gear selector is big and in the center is because Renault offers this car with manual (at least in mainland Europe)

Volume controls behind the steering wheel is the best! Had them in my Meg GT 👌🏻 HOWEVER! 145hp from a 1.6L??? This is the Alpine version, Renault previously got 205hp in the Meg GT with a 1.6L Shame 😢

Got one of these, or rather I did, until that big screen broke, and it’s been at the dealer now for nine weeks, with no idea when the part is coming in and no support from Renault at all. Shocking customer service.

The steering stereo controls maybe look stupid, but Renault long time users love it.. Once you use them.. you cannot forget... They are much better to use that in steering controls.

Pretty sure quick tilt seats were in most cars in the day or am I imagining things? You lifted a lever then used your body weight to move them to the back in seconds. My 2003 Daewoo Matiz had it (terrible car) but thought it was a cool feature. Seems like companies stopped them?
