Just got a 2021 Diesel version for £12k. 40,000 miles was a bit higher than I wanted but after getting well over 60mpg even with plenty of town driving I think it makes much more sense than a hybrid for £30k+ I’ll accept not everyone’s happy with a diesel anymore, but I think they’ll be missed. It just pulls so easily in low revs. Buy used!
@jimhughes26415 ай бұрын
I agree with you on diesel cars. I love the low down torque and ease of driving in diesels not to mention the extra economy. I can see the market for used diesel cars rising and lament the decision of so many manufacturers ditching them, a very premature move I think.

'Car for living' is probably the translation from the French « Voiture à vivre » which is a bit difficult to translate. It means a car that is practical, that you like making a part of your life. Interior is also new actually because this car is close to the newly introduced Symbioz. Finally on the base trim level you got the same infotainment but on a smaller screen.

I have got one of these, the pre-facelift version, it is super to drive and I find that it performs well, off the mark and accelerates brilliantly when you need it to, I have not experienced any issues with the battery not having enough charge as reported here though. The Google operating system even tells you the price of petrol at garages as you get near to them, which is useful, it colour codes the in green or a kind of red, depending on the price. I am pleased that mine does not have the French flags in the car, I think I would have to cut them out if it did. I am currently getting just north of 55mpg, which is super for a 1600cc petrol engine car.

A few weeks ago, I almost got killed in a Renault Clio. The brakes stopped functioning on a very steep (curvy) incline and the car started rolling back quickly. The breaks were hard as a rock! Generally speaking your affirmation is valabil for any country producing cars. It depends on models and reliability and of course on how lucky you are. French cars are not the performance types nor the luxury ones but despite the general impression of medium low quality, Renault made pretty good technical quality and reliability cars, not performant by any means but reliable. Now depends what you need the car for, like always. Renault is good for general needs, any deviation (luxury, performance, etc ) implies another market research.

Visibility is poor to the point where you can't see a wall, a roundabout or a child standing in front/by the car. 3. What's with all these sensors constantly beeping for no reasons? It rains? Yeah, I'm not blind. 'Two meters until I hit the wall?' Well, if the whole car wasn't a giant blind spot, there'd be no need for sensors in the first place. When driving in reverse I can see the Mount Everest, the Sun, the Moon and the stars, but not the road! 4. Not allowed to talk on your mobile phone while driving? But, it's perfectly fine to use a touch screen while driving 150km/h. No, not distracting at all.. I won't even go into DPF, Ad-blue, brake & rust issues. The list is too long. These stupid safety systems are there to get some extra Euro NCAP brownie points. And that's why most manufacturer give you an option to disable the most annoying ones. It's like the start&Stop. You cannot usually disable them permanently (it registers as a 'fault'), but you have a button that you have to press everytime you start the car. Now how stupid is this, adding 'safety' features that are actually very distracting, annoying, and that most driver would want to instantly switch off. Lane-keeping assist, speed limit warnings, even collision warning (when on a small country lane), these are extremely annoying, even potentially dangerous, and it's treating the driver as if he is a child. Thankfully, I don't get the speed limit warning in my car beeping at me, but I do have the lane keeping assist grabbing the wheel sometimes, even when it's suppose to be off (there is still a 'safety' that will kick it on when the car things you're heading for a bit of offroad).

No diesel - no good. The hybrid will be thirsty whenever it's not leaning upon the little electric reserve. Hard uncomfortable seats - what on earth happened to Renault?! They used to be fabulous back in the old rust-bomb days and even relatively recently I took my mk3 Clio for granted, but then any occasional passengers would immediately comment upon how smooth it was. Then I bought a 2014 Fiesta and THAT is DREADFUL by comparison. The environmental and safety mullahs have ruined driving, but that's the idea - make driving less accessible to ordinary people (because of course we will all live in 15-minute cities and never need to go anywhere anyway), thereby freeing up the pleb-crowded roads for the deserving few. I sometimes wonder if the NCAP isn't altogether unintentionally similar to another four-lettered abbreviation beginning with N (although the other abbreviation actually wanted to make motoring easier). Now I'll be banned for being both islamophobic and populist - that algorithm robot is a clever fellow.
