But while many Japanese cars as they are from the factory are not much performance wise, they’re bullet proof, which also means you can throw boost at stock engines and outrun a lot of muscle cars. They’re definitely good cars. And something I thought I’d never say, I think my next car is going to be a Honda

2:20 The engine speed drops and the engine goes into hunting mode, but this is not due to damage to the engine. This is the ignition prevention control mode. All Honda cars from about 20 years ago have this control. If you fall asleep with the engine running and press the accelerator unintentionally, we purposely set the hunting to prevent it from catching fire. This is to lower the exhaust temperature. Depending on the engine with a high maximum rotation speed, it will enter this mode in about 30 seconds. Once you let go of the accelerator, lower the revs, and then fully open the accelerator again, The engine speed will rise again to near the red zone. It wasn't broken, it was working properly.

Note the oil light wasn't on in the Honda. The sump must be designed so that when the oil is drained, just enough is left to feel the oil system for a few minutes.
@averyalexander2303 Жыл бұрын
I noticed that too. The oil pan on those Civics most definitely does not retain a significant amount of oil after it's drained though. Makes me wonder if they faked the Honda result and left some oil in it. That combined with how long as it lasted, it looks like they might have just drained the coolant from the Honda.

@averyalexander2303 Жыл бұрын
@@fudgepads19 There really is, 90's Hondas are incredibly well built. I recently bought a 1997 Civic with the D16Y7 and it still runs as good as new after 27 years and 354K miles. this is not the way a car should be treated tho. every year 1 oil change. old dirty oil will sooner or later clog up the oil control rings and then they seize on the pistons and they wont do thier job. means the car will start burning oil. if a car starts burning oil, the life of your engine oil gets shortened and the residue from burning all that oil will clog up other things like valves, the other 2 piston rings and before you know it, your engine burns more and more oil and the seized rings wear out the cylinder bores and the engine is toast. so people, DO YOUR OIL CHANGES

A mechanic would know that sometimes we need to suck the oil from the engine, for an effective oil change..
