I'm a RF design engineer (high power transmitters), just recently retired. I've endured 30 years of EMI testing of my designs, albeit on the military side of the fence. You know what the requirements are going in to the test, and you overdesign for it in order to pass the first time. At times, easier said than done. But nonetheless - you know the requirements and if there's a hiccup, you pretty much know the culprit and resolve it pronto if you understand your design and have good simulations to predict the results. DR seems to be floundering , doesn't seem like they have had much experience in the RF arena and are struggling w/respect to EMI emissions. Stern sidebar: George Gomez even mentioned in one of his KZbin videos that EMI testing was one of the reasons Stern placed the power switch in the backbox. The backbox is pretty much all metal -aka a 'RF shield'. Having a switch in the normal cabinet place (cabinet bottom, front right) - the wires going to the switch act like an antenna, radiating noise, making EMI compliance more difficult. If Stern wanted to keep the switch in the cabinet, they could have done it, but at the cost of additional EMI mitigation (i.e. filtering, shielding, etc.). But the point is - Stern must have a pretty good handle on EMI testing requirements. DR is likely still on the learning curve. Not trying to be a Stern fanboy - just comparing two companies. Lastly, a short comment about EMI just from a FYI perspective: There's conducted and radiated emission tests. These tests check for: Is the pin going to radiate a bunch of trash? i.e. Does it jam your TV when you try to watch a station? Does it jam your neighbor's GPS in their phone? Does it jam your WiFi? Etc. So the tests usually checks over an extremely wide range of frequencies to make sure the pin is 'quiet'. On the flip side - does the pin spit out a bunch of trash down the power cord that causes other kinds of issues? Just like the first example, the pin needs to be 'quiet' respect to injecting noise out thru the power cord. Sorry for a long post, just a topic I'm somewhat familiar with and wanted to let others know some info about EMI testing.

Thanks Mark! It seems this should have been done at least a couple years ago. When (Robert) They initially said they would sell more titles in a Callender year than all existing companies combined I laughed to myself but also thought, they must have at least a few prototypes that have been finished and tested for all of the country specific compliancy. Its almost like they've been doing NOTHING AS FAR AS BUILDING A PINBALL MANUFACTURING TEAM AND FACILITY! HOW IN THE HELL IS THIS WHERE THEY CURRENTLY STAND? IM SOO HAPPY MY LOVE FOR A JPOP DESIGNED PLAYFIELDS OF THE PAST (LETS BE HONEST ITS BEEN 20+ YEARS SINCE ONE WAS MADE THAT WAS BACKED BY A REPUTABLE COMPANY!) DIDN'T LEAD ME TO GAMBLING AWAY 10K OF MY SAVINGS! I honestly thought Carry was pulling a April fools joke at first but I guess not! And he actually saw inside the company building! If this is his point of view this isn't good! 😱

I predicted that the CE and UL would take alot longer... Deeproot lack experience but mostly they lack leadership - if Robert is as smart as he claims he needs to fire himself and pay the money to get a CEO who can deliver, because he simply can't. I feel for Steve and some of the other great people caught up in this slow motion car crash.

I've put in an order. Two orders in fact! I'm not worried one way or the other. Money lost, game is a paperweight, takes 5 years to get, etc. It's a risk. In fact it's a risk that I often don't even think about. I do find it interesting that those with no stake in DR and/or RAZA spend so much energy worrying about those who do. In any case, thank you for another great video, Cary!

I blame Capcom for choosing Flipper Football over Big Bang Bar. Had BBB been super common, the miracle that was it’s remake wouldn’t have created an appetite for start up pinball and people would have been super skeptical over unproven companies. Probably not true, but it’s always fun to blame Capcom for pinball problems.

I find it very ironic that Deeproot was planning on making Magic Girl as well. Perhaps some things are just not meant to be! RAZA can join Magic Girl in the infamous "vapor pinball machine" hall of shame.

If I was him, I would have bitten my bottom lip and taken the Stern role even though its working with people I didn't exactly fly with at WMS. Any new producer is gonna have problems so who wants to be first through the door? I kind of feel sorry for him

Deeproot's logo should just be 🤦‍♂️. Over and over, delay after delay. I feel bad for the people that still put faith in them. At this point deeproot just needs to take the L and make the games at a loss. And at least get the game to people. Then move on and hopefully get in the green with future titles. So much for "making pinball machines is easy."

My wife and I were able to play RAZA at the end of last year and it was a blast to play. That being said, the tech couldn’t go to far because there were constant issues that he had to correct.

At least it will not be a Magic Girl 2. They want to make it well this time, and not send uncomplete products. The playfield design was a concern for me but I hope they can make it. If it works in the end, the next one will sell, for sure. This one is the crash test, so I really hope it end up being a new option in the market. Covid was hard on them too.

I sat back and watched from the sidelines, I think it's safe to say Robert is full of crap. From start to finish, he has sounded like a used car salesman trying to make a buck. Had a nice sales pitch of bringing a new game manufacturer to the pinball hobby and bring "innovative" designs to the games. Here we are years later with no final product, still a prototype, no parts, more excuses, world premiere show & tell that was a major disaster with NDAs. I could go on, but I think everyone in the pinball hobby can see the real picture going on here.

Video game companies are having trouble getting chips made because of covid delays so the same could be said for Deeproot getting their parts. Could that be the reason?

Weren't you one of the 7 or so pinball people who was personally invited by Deeproot about a year ago to Texas who gave input to Deeproot on changes that should be made to the game that caused a delay of the final design and reveal last year? Has their recent letter made you have a change of heart with regards to Deeproot? I just don't recall you ever being negative towards Deeproot. Was this April 1st update from Deeproot the final straw that broke your back with regards to Deeproot? It's certainly understandable.....I doubt this pinball machine ever sees the Light of Day unless they contract Stern or Jersey Jack to build this for them.

I was one of the six, yes. My negative feelings for them began during my visit. To see how much wasn't done after all the time they have had. After all the delays. This recent letter did hit me to the point of where I need to help people wake up!

@@CaryHardy It's pretty obvious that they had no plan for Manufacturing, I blame JPop and Robert Meuller's complete ignorance and disregard for not being able to see the big picture of what is required of planning and financing to produce and manufacture a pinball machine from pre-planning to market. Seeing where they are currently would it be fiscally beneficial to them to contract Jersey Jack or Stern to do the manufacturing for them? Or are they too far gone? Is there any saving this company at this point?

You know what you were into when ordering, you don't tell us anything new. Also most people only invested less then a Stern topper as a deposit, so waiting is no problem as long as they're still "existing". If they ever manage to release Raza there'll be no Problem for Ourslers game because all's well that end well. (Or JJP would long not be around anymore.) The only real question is if they still have enough financial ressources to get things to fruition, wich get's harder to believe with every month that passes.

This company and its founder have Been a three three ring circus from the beginning. I’ve Been saying it since they came out the whole thing is a scam and anybody who gives them money deserves to get burned. The guy was too worried about swinging sledgehammers on playfields and bashing stern meanwhile stern cranks out 3 to 4 titles every year and actually builds games instead of just talking about them. Btw, I love the Shirt. I was a kid when Atari was burying those e. T. Cartridges in the desert😂. God that game was awful

@@CaryHardy Stern. The Exact same thing is happening in regards to delays but with no communication at all. They have a bunch of customers angry. And they failed to advise of delays due to manufacturing issues and other delays blamed on covid. So least you got an email.

Would communication to everyone about their status be better? of course! I may have harsh things to say about every company - but not getting games built and out to their customers isn't something I can say about any other Pinball companies except one...

Kind of why I wish Stern or JJP would work together on a program like Lego does with their Lego Ideas Line. People submit their designs for tables, can be IPs or original theme, people vote, Top picks get considered by Stern/JJP to see which will be more "feasible" design and money wise and it gets made. Do this every 3 years, BAM, original themed tables are back in the market.

This game looks bad ! The playfield doesn’t even look fun to me . The pin bar is not something that will enhance a pinball game more so will just create something that has the potential to fail and cost to much to fix. Plus could you even replace it with no part inventory? All in all this is a failed company who has been unprepared for a game release and probably be bankrupt very soon.
