Casa Bonita August 2023

Today I visit Casa Bonita, the mexican restaurant / amusement park made famous by South Park, recently purchased and renovated by the South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. It's right down the street from my house and we got early access invitations before it's open to the public, so here's my first time in Casa Bonita!

This brought back a whole lot of awesome childhood memories for me. As an adult I've only visited once, 20 years ago. Hopefully the food will be half as good as the entertainment. Thanks klesh!

Man I am so happy to see it back in operation, I lived in Denver metro for 20 years and can't tell you how many times I took my daughter there. It was kind of a rite of passage for kids there to go see the cliff divers and eat sopapillas.

There’s no way they plan on making that $40 million, all back. Restaurants operate on razor thin margins, you can tell this was done out of a labor of love and not motivated by profit

For Trey Parker and Matt Stone it’s not about making money on it. It’s about preserving not only their childhood memories, but a Colorado icon and historical landmark.

I enjoyed sovereign hill and the museum. Panned for gold in the creek and saw a gold bar pour demonstration too

Fun fact, this restaurant was actually supposed to close down, but the creators of South Park actually bought the company from the original owners

It's going to cost 5x more 2 eat at casa Bonita than before covid. Is it 5x better? It's been kept the same except the food. It's the only $50 a plate $25 for kids mexican food restaurant in colorado. Security entering casa bonita is similar to the airport or courthouse. Metal detectors and scanners. If you have a belt on you must remove your belt and have it scanned to enter. I guess that's different. Probably the only restaurant in the country doing that. Also casa bonita sets a 1hr time limit for your dining experience. Unlimited time in the building. 1hr at a table.😮

I'd say the cost is very similar to eating at any other restaurant. However, you're getting so much more at Casa Bonita. The food is almost an afterthought, the real treat is the experience. Nobody goes to Casa Bonita to eat, at least I don't. Think of it more as an amusement park rather than a restaurant. Yeah, there's food, but who cares.

@KleshGuitarsOfficial I'd say a family of 4 is going to spend between $400-$500 to have a good "experience" at casa Bonita. Almost $200 on insignificant food.

@KleshGuitarsOfficial ever been to a Chuck E Cheese pizza place? Are pizzas $50. Casa bonita is a large theme Restaurant. Just because they want to charge Disneyland prices that doesn't make it Disneyland or anything remotely close to Disneyland. Mex food is cheap. I don't care how you try to spin it $50 for cheese enchiladas is ridiculous.
