@@nitroneonicman That is a really dumb argument. Only just by the fact that a human is not a machine, they are different and should be treated in a different legal framework. Humans don't have the same capacities or resources. Humans pay dearly with the most valuable resource that a living being have to acquire those skills, yeah TIME. And even though the learning model of AI is based on human learning it is a "Model". Humans don't process information the same way as a machine does even if AI is based on human learning. why? because it is only a model adopted to a different system. So no. totally different and dumb arguments like that is why artist are so angry. The moment you compare a human to a machine learning model. You are dehumanizing those artist. When Artist uploaded images to the internet, they were uploaded to be consumed by humans. Every artist understood that people were going to use their art to study and most people would even feel proud that they are good enough that their art inspires and motivates people. Even a lot of artist dedicate themselves to share their knowledge, for free or paid it doesn't matter, because that artist understood what it takes to acquire those skills, so artist really don't consider that copyright infringement because that was what was one the purpose of it, for the art to be appreciated and to inspire others. But what artist did not expect was that their work was going to be used by corporations to feed machine learning algorithms without their consent, that was not why artist uploaded they images. Unless your work value will drop significantly because AI helps others to work faster like you. Basically makes the scene extremely over saturated with 'noise'. Not to mention how it will affect the traditional art and culture. Easily made art will take a big chunk just like contemporary pop music, when all artists sounds a same but nobody cares about uniqueness anymore. The problem with AI is deeper than many think.
@Freefork
@Freefork 9 ай бұрын
@@rettenthetetlen8759 I think you should reconsider by comparing AI to photography. People thought photography would hurt art for the same reasons(oversaturation due to ease, no uniqueness, etc). However, photography only gave us new types of art without undermining the old. Same with video games being disconnected from real world crimes, sound films introducing new films while silent films can still be made, etc. AI is only here to help. You gain nothing from doing a tiring, one note, braindead task that anyone can do after watching a five minute tutorial. Art should be about creativity, not searching for semicolons in code or fiddling with in-betweens LOL.
@Inmagy-Arts
@Inmagy-Arts 9 ай бұрын
@@Freefork And I think you should reconsider too. I don't think it is the same and should not be compared. They are different and should be treated differently. AI is a new technology it is disruptive and we still don't know the full implications it will have. You said that art should be about creativity, but what if that "Creativity" is 95% guided. yes, you give the idea and you make decisions on the end result. But with so little involvement I personally have a hard time calling that my own "Art". Heck it can even be called art, they say it is the the observer what is art and what is not. But I would be ashamed to call it mine with so little involvement. Yeah, it should be used to help with repetitive monotone task like stated in the video and by you, although calling it braindead is disrespectful. But it has also been introduced to replace or at least reduce the use of Laboral force in the industry, because that is how capitalism works. It will help sure. But AI is a tool that has so much more possibilities and if it can be used to cause harm it will cause harm. The cat is out of the bag, and nothing can be done about it now. but regulation is necessary. This isn't like a Camera man... not at all.

And yes obviously if you want good results you have to be good at animation, so to anyone that is serious about animating, you should definitely learn it the "proper" way first.

So more or less - a smarter rig and that is why it works pretty good for an animator While the endormorphic stuff was more lets physics take over limb placement and motion depending on surface etc. and that is why I’d was terrible to work with and really did not translate well into a real workflow and well that’s why the product died and ended up as a silly stumble right in the app clumsy ninja :)

@@HalfgildWynacyes. So basically it’s both a more smarter rig in the way it translates motion. And also this rig handles a bit of secondary animation into the chains. When this software came out (and all the lovely cherry-picked demos), the owner of the studio I do freelance for announced that he was intending to lay off most of the animation staff now that "the computer can do all the animation". It took several meetings and hands-on demonstrations to prove that animators were not only still needed, but that Cascadeur was like a pencil, it's a tool that the artist uses, not the artist itself. His next announcement was that deadlines would get shortened as the computer was now doing most of the work. More meetings. I enjoy using Cascadeur on a base posing level from time to time, but I always have to go back in for all the fine details to give the character personality and end up re-animating some of the base work and this usually means the same scene takes a little longer to complete. The software is helpful, and as it gets better, will do more, but still not able to replace the artist (yet).

Animator here. What this is doing is filling in between keyframes. The hardest part of animation is controlling what's happening in this space. I have had a quick look at the programme and haven't used it enough yet to make any real comment. From that I will say that setting the key frames in this programme would be slower than the one I use. What is speeding the process up in this programme is the AI filling the in between frames as I stated earlier because its doing the physics for you. What it can not do is predict physics for a heavy weapon or a light weapon as in how the animation should look and 'feel' and change pace. You can turn off the physics feature, Which is good.
@Endorvien

Fellow animator here. Yeah I was going to say this doesn't look too too impressive. It just seems like it uses AI to help determine the interpolation curves for in-betweens. Which is something most animators struggle with when first learning how to use. You definitely have less control this way, but it would speed things up a lot. What you said about the "weight" of weapons and such is very true, some of those quick examples he should still feel flat even after he used the auto physics feature. Definitely excited to mess around with this to get concepts rolling slightly faster though.

Great keyframes can be spaced out in a lot of ways and will still look good, while bad keys will always look bad no matter the spacing or timing. E.g you can rotoscope a video in 6s and the keys would still make the animation flow well despite the spacing and timing being clunky due to the spacing being quite solid

As an animator, this tool seems pretty cool. Since I focus on stylized animations, I would be hesitant to rely too heavily on this tool. I'd probably only use it to possibly smooth out the animation at the very end (kinda feels like it's the "subdivision surface modifier" of animation) OR I'd use it as reference while animating to understand what the weight of the motion maybe should feel like. I think, for anyone learning or practicing animation, relying too heavily on this tool will make your animations a bit same-same. Similar to mocap stuff, you'll lose out on some of the necessary, electric energy you need in animation. But that's coming from someone who hasn't tried this yet. That being said, if you are a fairly seasoned or practiced animator making realistic animations or dozens of game animations, this seems like a really good tool. For someone studying animation, it can be a really good study tool provided they use it wisely. Like I said, I think the more you rely on it and the less you rely on your own critical thinking and animation skills, the more you'll cheat yourself out of a rewarding end product. Definitely needs to be used as support wheels and not the actual bicycle wheels.

As someone who used to work here and there as an animator in 3D (now fully shifted to 2D), I can see this helping beginners get into animation! However, I think that higher skilled animators would most likely overlook it just because they can do what the AI is doing in not much longer of a time period and will still need to polish it up in the graph editor in the end. Still, it's quite impressive for it's current state!

This is great! It takes me back to my animating days in 2010 when people thought I was a great animator after I learned how to "tween". Then when I explained it they thought it was stupid and bad... Petty idiots will always equate effort to quality. The experts know better, but they're not the ones typically commenting on your work. I always knew AI was going to do exactly what we'd already been using computers to do. To massively save time doing the boring stuff. To allow single people to create an entire movie or game. All stuff that's only become possible recently, more so than people realise... Well, I guess there were some solo games back in the day, but you could really tell it was a single person for those, typically had no real art. And now the indie devs are going to be more powerful than ever. Huge studios are terrified and for good reason... And the people who enjoy movies and games are also terrified but without any sane reason. I wish the common person could show some consideration for animators and artists, and support AI technology like this. AI can never replace people. No-one is TRYING to replace people with AI. Working with AI is like opening a package with a pair of scissors. Even though non-package openers can only see scissors as something dangerous. We all find it easier to open a package with them and we want to use the scissors. But all we hear is how people want scissors banned, because the scissors will take our jobs... Seriously it sounds EXACTLY this stupid when people protest AI to protect artists, when artists are all the ones who WANT the AI.

This was a bit reassuring. I'm a junior animator and the concern with Ai recently has been if I spent all this time studying for nothing. Seeing Ai used in this way though really shows that the human touch, at least animation, might always be needed. This just reminds of old school Disney animation where you had the big shot Animators, and then you had the Inbetweeners. Very cool to see and I'd love to look into more myself
@nitrork

As a fellow animator let me just say; You chose a life of suffering, but the silver lining is that you have far more job security in this phase of production than any other skill, which is far more compartmentalized, and easily replaced, as we've seen with things like concept art. Animation will never truly be replaced because it encompasses too many different skillsets and phases that cannot be easily quantified as It's both highly technical (literal), AND creative (subjective) all at the same time. AI can produce objectively 'good' animation, or motion that is based in reality; hell it will likely very soon be able to stylize animation as well- but to the point of making very specific and deliberate decisions about the *design* of motion as it pertains to specific styles and themes is something that is years and years away if ever fully achievable as you mentioned.

@Exsulator2
@Exsulator2 8 ай бұрын
Yeah you worded it perfectly. It leaves a bad taste, it feels like every month I go to youtube, I find new signs that AI will kick out humans from their jobs. Now I understand and accept that the evolution of tech has always been merciless to those whose jobs can be replaced by new technology, but it's the sheer speed of the evolution nowadays that scares me. It's not long since I got my education... how many years left till all I learned is obsolete? Till I must pivot to stay relevant? Can I keep up at an older age? Should I just quit being a software user, and try to become a software CREATOR as a programmer instead lmao
