Living in Australia I've seen countless TV shows about these killings over the years. I almost wasn't going to bother with the Casefile episodes on it, but wow. I got through all five parts and was absolutely captivated by the tragic details and insight into the victims, perpetrator and timeline of how it all unfolded. Thanks for creating an intriguing escape into a world that we can only hope never to be a part of in real life. This is how you make a true crime podcast.

Very thorough and I thought I knew it all. Particularly like how you provided biographies for each of the kids before mentioning the psychopath.

I followed this case at the time of Milats arrest & was glued to news of the outcome as well as coverage of any tv programmes about it, here in Britain. However this set of vids have been the best & fully comprehensive of any coverage about the Belanglo Backpack Murders & the finding & arresting of Milat. Absolutely Excellent! Ive just recently discovered this channel & so far, apart from eating sleeping & cooking, all ive done is binge watch Casefile's past vids...im in heaven.

You have to wonder how many other members of Milat's family were involved in these murders. They all seem dodgy with criminal tendency. Richard's hands are not clean. The horror these kids endured is heart breaking.

I'm pretty sure his family members are still alive/active? I heard a lot of them still live near Belanglo forest, it's creepy to say the least.

Every time I drive the Hume I see the sign "Belanglo" I am reminded of this case. I have lived in The Hunter/Newcastle /Belmont/Swansea region for over 40 years and didn't know the extent of Milat's time there. Thank you for this detailed podcast.

My youngest daughter used to attend Frensham, a girls private boarding school at Mittagong and whenever I'd go to visit her and pass that whole area where Milat used as his hunting grounds, I couldn't help but think about what happened there and the terror those young people endured after meeting that excuse for a human! I won't call Milat an animal because that doesn't describe him, but he's not a proper human either. I wonder if there are any more bodies out there in the forest, but there are bodies everywhere that haven't been discovered all over the world. Just SUCH a tragedy! Glad that Milat is dead and I remember cheering when I heard he died.

This series was great!! Just like all of them so far. I subscribed after youtube suggested it about a week ago and I'm so glad I did. You do a great job of bringing the visualization to your listener. The best thing about coming late to this party is ALL the binging I can do!

I still remember watching Wolf Creek back in 2005. I said to myself "never travel to Australia". I have never hitchhiked and I would never hitchhike or stay at the hostel. I was that scared.

I have always believed that Ivan’s family were complicit but just how much I’m not sure but boy they all were a bunch of sickos. I only wish they had the forensics that we have now back then. Maybe they all would be in prison. I live in Western Australia and hitchhiking was a way of life. After these murders everything changed. Even my Dad who was a long distance truck driver stopped picking them up because government introduced stricter penalties. It was a terrible time in Australia history. We lost our innocence.
