The police completely outed her knowing they were going to kill her. This is exactly why people don't come forward when other crimes happen. They gave that waste of space her name and a picture of her face. Her death is just as much their fault.

Detectives are the ones responsible for her murder. Martha never signed that six pack ,The detectives did that to try to make it seem like someone had picked them out of the six pack. They messed up by putting MP initials on the six pack. Leaving little to anyone’s imagination. Anyone would have put things together and figured out it was her . For one because she lived at the house where the murder occurred . It was a no brainer. The detectives are responsible for her death. They set her up. As gang detectives they know how gangs operate, they knew better . And they should’ve been held accountable to the fullest extent of the law, they are there to enforce the laws not break them . And if they do , they should be held to a higher standard. This is a real miscarriage of justice. What a shame !

Why would Law Enforcement tell that man who accused him the way they did? That's another reason why people don't like talking to them

Been listening to this show while at work lately. I love your production value, cool voice and the amount of research you put into these. Also thanks for always giving us Americans the non-metric versions of distance and weight.

Juan was saved by and episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm. He was filmed at a Los Angeles Doggers game. It so beautiful the prosecutor had never lost a case and she did not even get the case past the preliminary history. She could not even talk after the decision.

Kind of messed up he would have been sentenced to death all because you look like the sketch -_- that's scary the prosecutors should know better but are paid to convict not show you are innocent even when you are

He didn't even match the suspects description in any way. The police were just looking for an arrest at any cost.

If there was ever a case (and there have been plenty) where police officers needed to be fired, it was the police officers (detectives) who got Martha killed. I can’t believe the jury flipped off Martha’s parents like they did by giving them $1.00 in compensation. Maybe the jury was tainted, because I honestly can’t see how Martha or her parents were responsible for the police lying about what Martha said.

That's a lot of injustice in one story. Feel especially bad for Martha's parents, finding out their daughter's life was worth exactly one dollar to the City of LA. Disgusting. Thanks for the upload.

The police are as responsible for Martha's death as the coward that shot her. They knew she was in danger..they knew there would be retaliation. . They left her unprotected .. The gutless "gang"members are a waste of good oxygen ... Really brave to gun down an unarmed child ...cowards !. Fly high Martha 💖

What a terrible miscarriage of justice. Martha and her family deserved so much more than this from the LAPD.

I am reading “Little Girls Lost True Tales of Heinous Crimes” and it appears as if you are reading the chapter on Martha Peubla verbatim. I was searching for a video on the case hoping for new information or to put faces to these names. I truly wish you would re-title the video or put in the description that it is a narration of the book. Thank you for giving the case more light so that Martha can live on from her story being told. Poor girl lived a tough life and it’s sad she didn’t get to live to see just how beautiful life can be. Rest In Peace sweetheart.

The episode was uploaded on December 2019 and the book was published in September 2020. The author of the book is a writer and researcher for this podcast. You really should Google a few things before slinging accusations.

The what ifs shouldn't be considered what ifs. They were God's intervention to allow an innocent man his freedom and for positive changes within the police force. However, there are definitely serious injustices that occurred. I hope and pray that someday they'll be righted.

I watched the documentary last week and stumbled upon this podcast. So glad he was exonerated! Side note: in the Netflix documentary I thought the lady said she tossed the home to find the baseball ticket stubs but never found them. This podcast says she found them. I'm probably wrong.

After listening to at least HALF of these podcasts, I'm convinced the narrator intentionally mispronounces at least one word per episode. It's almost endearing, almost maddening. You don't see me leaving.
